Chapter 1: Out of Bounds

Chapter Text

The day started out sunny with the added bonus of no clouds roaming the blue skies, which was shocking to the group because of the giant storm that rolled through the town. Last night everyone had to stay in, but now? Today was the day for exploring. They all started off with getting into the beaten up, early 2000s, Ford Explorer that had seen better days, avoiding the road signs that warned them about the flooded roads from the storm. The biggest thrill today was doing the dangerous and illegal, breaking and entering into the Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex.

Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex was famous for its smooth animatronics and parties. Of course though, seemingly the curse of Freddy Fazbear's, the giant building was now closed to the public. The building had years of neglect and decay. The roof caved in a few months ago, something the news jumped on, along with broken and boarded doors and windows. Originally it was hard to get inside due to the insistent security staff during the day, and constant guard during the night, but of course it wasn't long until the security became too laxed and the rambunctious teens were able to break in. They were the first ones to begin stealing everything.

Rosie sighed, looking out the window as the car approached the signs leading up to the Pizzaplex. It looked as if years had passed and not just months, from the overgrown sidewalks and the no-longer freshly manicured lawns that flanked both sides. This was the thrill that they all sought after, but it was something that was dangerous. Even with her addiction towards abandoned buildings, she knew it could be risky. That was the part she didn't like too much. From the information Rosie got, there were a ton of things left behind from the neglectful workers. Only the main animatronics, Freddy, Chica, Roxie, and Monty, were taken, leaving behind apparently everything else. Of course the items that were left behind were ravaged and stolen by other self-proclaimed 'urban explorers', leaving almost nothing last time Rosie was informed.

As much as Rosie did love abandoned buildings, it was hard to not forget going into the Pizzaplex for the first time back when the doors were opened and the parking lot was full of cars. Remembering the glossed floor and all the neon lights gave her a headache, but when she got to see the big show she was amazed how the animatronics moved so smoothly, able to copy the gracefulness of a human. They even reacted like they were human, when she met Montgomery Gator and Glamrock Chica off stage, it was strange but no one really questioned it. Just technology advancing into the age of animatronics.

"Yo! Okay checklist, we have the cameras, lights," Roxie announced, snapping Rosie out her old memories. Roxie dug through their old school bag that was littered with random pins and soda caps that had yet to be turned into pins. "First Aid, weapons in the trunk..." she kept listing off now leaning back into her seat.

Roxie was a big explorer and a bit of an accidental demonization nut. Jesse, however, was the man with the snacks. He had to carry snacks around everywhere he went, being a nervous eater did that to him, automatically being deemed the designated snack packer for the group. "I brought some Lays, Goldfish, sandwiches, and a shit ton of water," Jesse announced to the car. Claude was their Tech and Robotics major, graduated at the top of his class and easily the man who created all the custom gadgets for the group to carry around.

Claude yawned as he tried to stretch out in the small space of the trunk. "Okay so from the information I got there was something inside one of the explorers went through they also found an underground building with Freddy's name," he reminded us, just the twentieth time or so of him geeking out about the possibility of another abandoned building inside of said abandoned building. Claude pulled out his phone looking at its darker screen, "I'll send some locations to the Fazbear watches." There was a sharp ding which had Rosie, Roxie, and Jesse look at their hacked and altered watches, notifying the group that the locations were received.

Jesse looked nervous as he fiddled with the plastic bag of food. "I don't know, last time we almost got caught, is this really a good idea?" he stated softly. It was true. In their last rendezvous the group was ill-informed of the current cameras that were around the property or how the owners hired new security detail to keep a lookout at all hours of the day, and night, but also what was inside of the building.  "We're not the Scooby Doo gang-" Jesse began, quickly being cut off.

"Jesse, you can just stay behind but whatever we find is ours and you can't get dibs," Rosie smiled, knowing Jesse was a big Fazbear fan. He had the biggest Freddy collection the group had ever seen, along with knowing the lore and the theories about Fazbear Entertainment and all branching companies. He could go days in a deep dive into the complexity of why all Fazbear companies fail. Unlike what Rosie, Roxie, and Claude believed, bad management and horrible accidents, Jesse assumed there was a bigger meaning behind it.

Jesse whimpered and whined, Rosie immediately knew she had the man trapped. "Come on Rosie that isn't fair!" he cried out but then sighed in defeat. "Fine, but I'm staying in the Gift Shop," he concluded, picking out his spot for this new adventure.

"Sounds good!" Roxie added as she opened her door and handed the keys to Claude for safe keeping. "Let's get going. Claude, you know the drill, if we ding even once you need to get back here quickly," Roxie reminded Claude, they all knew the emergency alert and how to get to safety within the group. Rosie smiled, getting out now and going to the back to grab their bats, the weapons Roxie was talking about, in case anyone was inside. They didn't need a repeat on what happened last time.

Rosie stretched her body out as the trunk was opened. She grabbed the bats, one that Roxie snagged from Rosie's arms. Rosie slid her arms into the straps of her backpack and was ready to go. "Let's hope we don't fall into the floor," Rosie joked.

"Speaking of the floor, this whole place is a sinkhole so on that note, be careful," Claude said, climbing to the driver side and putting the keys into the ignition and starting the van again. Claude pushed up his glass and adjusted the rearview mirror. Jesse slowly climbed out the car with an exhausted look, "Yay so much fun."

The group looked at the old building as a stray brick fell and hit the ground with a resounding crack causing Jesse to look at the girls with a look of disbelief. "Come on! I want to see if we can find something cool again!" Rosie headed off to the building rather quickly. Word was that there was still an animatronic inside, maybe an old worker bot, and she wanted to find it first! Roxie followed after at walking speed and then Jesse shortly after. Rosie was their bullet; she always went first and scouted ahead for the all clear. They all hoped this wasn't going to be ending in disaster.
