Work Text:
Hizashi was in the midst of grading his second years' English assignment when their youngest came into the room, patting him on the leg.
"Yes, baby?" He asked, trying to understand what one of his students had written. Their answers weren't bad per se but one could say that they definitely weren't given any kind of handwriting quirk.
"I have a present for you, Papa." The man smiles at the thought, lowering his hand towards the boy who placed something small into his hand. Finally looking over to what the boy had given him, his heart stopped.
"Shouta!" The man screamed as he climbed on top of the counter, snatching the boy off the floor by the armpits shortly after.
"Zashi? What's going on?" Shouta asks, practically fallen halfway down the staircase to his husband's aid.
"There's a roach!" Hizashi screeches, gesturing at the floor. Still hanging in the man's arms, Hitoshi tilts his head up towards his father.
"It's a cicada, Papa. Not gonna hurt you," he explained, Hizashi's grip growing stronger.
"Shouta, get that thing out of this house!" Hizashi screeches, Shouta calmly lifting his son to the floor.
"Sweetheart, could you take the cicada outside? It scares Papa," Shouta asked, the boy quickly gathering the bug and heading outside. Shouta couldn't help but chuckle at his husband.
"Don't laugh at me!" Hizashi whined, stomping his feet like a toddler.
"Okay," Shouta smirked, pecking the other on the cheek, "but only because you're cute."
Not even five minutes later they hear the front door reopen.
"Papa? I know you didn't like the other present so I got you a different one!" The boy explained as he walked inside, Hizashi cowering behind his husband.
"Hitoshi, sweetheart, we just talked about this. No more bu- is that a bird?" Shouta asked wide eyed. In the boy's tiny hands was a blue bird attempting to wiggle its way out, giving petrified chirps every few seconds.
"He came to eat the bug and I got him instead!" The boy explained with a smile.
It was going to be a long day.
