Chapter Text
'What the hell is going on? All these explosions and it sounds like we're falling.' I think to myself as my room door suddenly opens.
I cautiously walk over to the door, peak around the corners to look around and carefully make my way to where I know the jets are. When I get outside, I see someone on top of my father's plane, arch an eyebrow at her and look to see a familiar head of red hair running towards the jet. 'Natalia? I thought that she got out?' I think to myself. I see my father's plane explode, the girl fall back at the blast, run grabbing a parachute and dive off the edge after her. I quickly wrap my legs around her waist, put the parachute on her, pull the rip chord as she wakes up and hold on to her.
"I know that you don't know me, but I'm going to need to you to control the parachute. I only grabbed one when I saw you get blasted off the plane." I say and look up to see that Natalia had the same idea.
"What the hell? Who are you?" Natasha asks.
"Not important right now. Right now I need you to put that parachute on and get to the ground safely. We have company." I say and point up to my sister diving after us.
"No you take the parachute. She's after me." Natasha say tossing it at me.
I grab the reluctantly catch the chute, put it on letting go of the girls waist and pull my own rip chord and start floating to the ground. I land on the ground carefully, take the pack off of my back and try to find the girl I saved. I finally find her, slide on my knees in front of her and quickly check her for a pulse and any injuries. I'm ripped away from her soon after seeing that she is okay and quickly fight the person to the ground pinning her.
"I was just checking for injuries and a pulse. I don't want to hurt people anymore." I say and climb off the woman.
I start walking toward the jet with the other widows, see my sister lying on the ground, run over to her and immediately pull her head into my lap. I gently push the hair out of her face, kiss her forehead and let a few tears fall.
"Antonia, my dear sister. You're finally free from him. He's gone and we're both free. Father won't hurt us anymore." I whisper to her. "We can be our own people now."
I carefully pull her up with the help of the other widows and send her a weak smile. I look back to see the blonde from earlier following us with someone in a knockoff Captain America suit and a woman with black hair.
"Hey, you. I want to thank you for saving my life." the blonde says. "Though I'm confused. I didn't see you anywhere in the building nor did I see you among the ones under control."
"I wasn't allowed to be controlled the way that the rest of you were. As for why I wasn't with the rest of you, that is my own personal secret." I say and climb on the plane.
1 Year Later
"You know I still don't know your name." Yelena says. "You've been on this mission helping me free the rest of the widows and you've never told me your name."
"You wouldn't trust me after I told you my name. I have to have your word that this won't change any...." I say but get cut off as Antonia walks into the room.
"Y/N can I talk to you for a moment?" Antonia asks.
"I'm sorry, but give me a moment. I'm gonna need your word." I say looking Yelena in the eyes.
"Wait why does Antonia know your name? You got close to her and told her your name but now me and we've been together this last year helping the others." Yelena accuses.
'Thanks a lot, Antonia. I may be older but damn I feel like the youngest sometimes.' I think pointedly.
"I seem to have interrupted something. I'll take that as my cue to go." Antonia says turning around and sending me a wink.
I pinch the bridge of my nose, close my eyes with a sigh and look back at Yelena and try to fight the worry in the back of my mind. I turn to face the woman that I have gotten close to and bite my lip.
"Antonia already knew. It had nothing to do with getting close to her, but more with the fact that she already knew it to begin with." I say and pause giving Yelena a moment. "Yelena, Antonia is my baby sister."
I get up to get ready for the fall out that is about to happen, lean against the furthest wall from her and watch all of her expressions. I tense when she stands up fast enough that the seat falls back with a bang and see the look in her eye of nothing but pure rage. I quickly put my hand on the handle of my gun attached to my thigh, watch all her movements and sigh when the tension doesn't release from her shoulders.
"I'll go. This is why I didn't tell you my name. My name is Y/N Dreykov and I was put through the Red Room just like the rest of the widows, but it was rougher on me. You know how to reach me if you need me." I say and walk up to my room to pack.
Once I'm done packing my meager possessions, I walk downstairs to see my sister waiting on me and stop in front of her. I pull her into a fierce hug, squeeze while fighting my tears and pull away to look into her eyes resting a hand on her cheek.
"Будь в безопасности, сестричка. Освободи вдов и помни, что я всегда рядом с тобой." I say and kiss her forehead.
" Я буду, но помни, что ты больше, чем наша фамилия." Antonia whispers as I walk out the door.
1 Year Later
I walk through the Hydra base swiping any files I can fit into my bag, take out any of the soldiers that stand in my way and turn to see some red hair around the corner. I quickly hide behind a wall, peak out seeing Natalia again and try to listen to her conversation with the man in red white and blue.
"Steve, this mission I think has been compromised. We're not finding any files or anything. It's almost like someone got here first and even the security is out cold." Natasha says.
"Who could have gotten the jump on us? No one else has the information that we do." Captain America says.
"The marks on the guards indicates that a widow is involved. My sister said that she lost contact with one of the widows she was working with a year ago." Natasha whispers.
I silently make my way to the rest of the files, grab them before making my way out of the base and quickly drive away with the bag of files sitting in the passenger seat. 'The Avengers could use these files more than me and they also have a former widow on their side so maybe I should just send it to them.' I think to myself. I pull up outside my safe house, feel my phone vibrating and answer it without looking at the call ID.
"Yes, Kate?" I say walking into my apartment.
"Hey, Y/N. You fancy some training me?" Kate asks.
"Kate you ask me this anytime I get back into town and you know my answer is always no. You fight really well on your own and you don't need my help." I say setting the bag on my coffee table.
"It never hurts to be prepared for anything and anytime we spar you always beat me. I just want to know more to be able to be at least at your level." Kate says.
"If I teach you a few things will you drop it and only promise to use the skills in an emergency?" I say pinching the bridge of my nose.
"Yes I promise to only use what you teach me in an emergency." Kate says.
"Fine. Come to my place tomorrow at 5am. Bring running shoes." I say and sit down.
"Why running shoes?" she asks.
"Are you gonna trust my methods or continue to ask questions?" I say with a small smile.
"Fine, fine. I'll trust your methods." Kate says and I can tell she has her hands up at her tone.
I quickly shower to get the grime of the day off, get dressed in comfy clothes and climb into bed with a small smile on my face. I look at the picture on my bedside table of me and Yelena, sigh sadly and quickly roll over missing my best friend and the woman that I possibly loved. 'I miss her so much, but she wants nothing to do with me.' I think to myself right before falling asleep.
Next Morning
I wake up to my alarm going off, shut it off getting up to get dressed and walk to the living room in my workout clothes. I sit down with a cup of coffee, pull out the files I stole from Hydra and look them over. I lean forward when I notice something about the Winter Soldier and sigh knowing that I have to send these to the Avengers. I set the files down as there was a knock on my door, grab my gun from under the table's edge and calmly walk over to my door to look through the peep hole.
"Put the gun away. It's just me and I don't feel like getting shot today." Kate says holding up a bag of donuts.
I put the gun in my waistband, open the door to let Kate in and smile at her. I walk over to the couch after shutting the door, sit down and finish my cup of coffee.
"You're lucky that you are the only one that knows about this place." I say covering the files. "You're early than I thought you would be."
"I figured we could have breakfast together before we start training." Kate says with a small smile.
"What did your mom say when you left this early in the morning?" I say pulling out one of my favorite donuts out of the bag.
"Yeah she wasn't too happy, but I told her I was just going for a run and then visiting a friend." Kate says blushing a little.
I nod at her as I eat my food, look at the time getting up to throw away our trash and put my gun back under the table. I motion to Kate to follow me, open the door for her locking it behind me and walk outside.
"For the things I'm going to teach you, you are going to need better stamina." I say and start stretching.
I start a slow jogging pace so she can get the feel for it, slowly increase the speed as she starts keeping up and smirk when we're at a full sprint. An hour of running passes without a break and I see her starting to get winded. I stop at the corner of a road, rest my hands on my knees catching my breath and send Kate a smirk.
"You still sure about me training you?" I say with a laugh.
"I've never been more sure of anything. If this is what it takes, I'll do it." Kate says struggling to catch her breath. "I knew you weren't going to go easy on me."
"You've only known me for 6 months. How could you possibly know that I wasn't going to take it easy on you?" I says with a laugh.
"Our sparring sessions." Kate says finally catching her breath.
"I was actually pulling my punches. You think you're ready for the run back? Slow and steady pace this time." I say straightening up.
"Yeah and when we get back you can tell me where the hell you learned everything. Also no fucking fair on pulling your punches during our sparring matches." Kate says.
I shake my head with a small smile, start jogging back to my place ignoring her about the where I learned everything and look back her with a smirk.
"You coming?" I joke.
"I wish I was." Kate mumbles. "Yeah, I'm coming."
I arch an eyebrow at Kate's comment looking back in front of me, see Kate catch up running by my side and laugh when my apartment comes back into view.
"Last one to the front door buys lunch." I say to her with a smirk.
I take off at full speed with Kate keeping up with me even after our long run and push it into high gear landing my hand on the door handle just second before Kate. I fall onto my ass laughing, hold my stomach and look up at her with a wide smile.
"That's not fair! It's almost like you're a professionally trained assassin or something." Kate jokes.
The smiles drops from my face, I get up pulling her inside after unlocking my apartment and lock the door behind us. I pull Kate over to the couch, sit down beside her and sigh.
"I was. It's how I know everything that I do. One of the reasons why I'm so hesitant to train you, but you wouldn't drop it so better that you are prepared than to not be and possibly die." I say getting up to get some water.
"Wait, were you trained like Black Widow? All their information got leaked when shield fell." Kate says sobering up.
"Yes I was. How is your Russian coming by the way?" I ask passing her a bottle of water.
"It's coming along, and I can say I'm almost fluent. My professor was shocked with how much I've progressed in the last two months." Kate says with a small smile. "I guess now having a badass russian assassin as a tutor helps."
"Wait, me being trained the way I was and the things that I've done doesn't bother you?" I ask in genuine shock.
"You got out and you don't do that anymore. Even if you did I would understand." Kate says with a comforting smile.
"Then this might change your mind." I say taking a deep breath. "I'm the daughter of the man that started the Red Room."
I tense getting prepared for the blow up, flinch when I feel arms around my shoulders and carefully fall into the woman's arms as she pulls me into a hug. I look up at Kate to see understanding in her eyes and finally wrap my arms around her hugging her back.
"Even if you are that man's kid, you had no choice and his actions don't define yours." Kate whispers.
"How can you be so understanding when a person that went through it with me and who I thought was my best friend couldn't understand?" I say and pull away from the hug.
"Because I see the good in everyone." Kate says.
"Be careful with that one." I say with a chuckle.
3 months later
I feel myself get pinned to the ground, quickly reverse mine and Kate's positions and feel myself get flipped over again with my arm behind my back. I use my free hand to pat the mat, smile at house fast Kate has picked this stuff up and get up facing her. I grab a water bottle out of my bag, toss it at her and smile when she quickly catches it.
"You've picked this all up pretty quickly. Congratulations! Your training is done because you can now pin me." I say and sit down on the mat across from her.
"Thank you again for finally giving in." Kate says with a small smile.
"You're the only one that I would have ever considered training and I'm glad I did. Now if you were ever to go up against a widow, you're prepared. Which reminds me," I say and grab a present out of my bag and pass it to Kate, "To commemorate you completing your training. I know you like using that bow and arrow of yours, but this is a good backup in case you get that knocked out of your hands or run out of arrows."
I watch as Kate opens the present, pulls what was inside out and see her eyes light up in excitement. I let out a wide smile as she puts them on her wrists, pull her into a hug and kiss her forehead.
"Now you see why I let you practice with mine. These are yours and should protect you when you can't carry a bow on you." I say and stand up starting to pack up when I see someone at the door of the gym. "Kate stay behind me."
I walk over to the person, notice blonde hair and glance at her wrists noticing the telltale signs of the widows bite. I quickly slide mine on, look the woman over again and realize who it is. I sigh relaxing my posture, rub my face and look the woman in the eyes.
"What are you doing here?" I ask calmly.
