Chapter Text
The girls sat around the table, their own versions of a mimosa in front of them.
“Honestly, after several lifetimes, you kind of just say ‘fuck it.’”
There were murmurs going around the table and nods agreeing. The one who’d spoken, with pretty garnet colored hair and celadon eyes that spoke of an infinite boredom echoing through the girls.
“Though I wish we’d stay in modern times,” another girl, this time with golden blonde hair and harlequin green eyes spoke up. “At least we’d have working showers.”
“And hot water, Aria,” the garnette hmmed in pleasure thinking about it, after responding to those who knew her as Lady Aria Roscente.
Another blonde, this time with hair of pure gold that shined just like the precious metal, giggled and took a sip of her drink.
“Come on, Penny. It’s not so bad!”
“Says the actual princess of the group,” ‘Penny’, known by most as Lady Penelope Eckart, teased. “With your father being the absolute Emperor, no one challenges him and you get to do what you want, Athy!”
“But modern amenities,” she pouted. The one and only Princess Athanasia de Alger Obelia shrugged. “Come on, everything is more convenient. And of course, more ways to entertain ourselves!”
“Music is so much better,” Aria added on.
The last one, known as Lady Aristia la Monique with hair looking like waterfalls of silver and eyes of amber, smiled dreamily and hummed in pleased thought.
“There was also a lot more variety in sweets and desserts,” she sighed.
“Mmm, so true, Tia,” Athanasia agreed, all of the girls sighing again in longing.
“I should complain,” Aria grumbled. “Tell God ‘Hey! If we have to relive our lives again, let’s stay in an era where we can party and do what we want. I’m actually tired of revenge by now. I never thought that would happen!”
“Neither did I,” Athanasia smirked and Aria just shrugged back with an amused grin back.
“I’m just tired of having to make sure I stay alive every time,” Penelope grumbled.
“Oh yeah, that’s a hassle too,” Aria’s eye twitched.
“Yes, it really is one of the most annoying parts of having to relive our lives,” Aristia rubbed the back of her neck. “Having to always be wary of your death is exhausting!”
“At least, at this point, we really just don’t give a fuck anymore,” Penelope noted, smiling in satisfaction. She leaned back and took a long gulp of her drink. “I say we’re ‘winning.’”
“God, I really need to introduce more cocktails around here!” Aria swirled her drink around. “If we were in a real bar, we’d have more options to work with.”
“Well, given our memories of the modern world, us introducing those drinks here makes our new business more profitable and innovative,” Aristia noted.
“Even the ladies are drinking more,” Athanasia laughed. “Beats them being stuffy in these times!”
“Took them a bit to adjust,” Aria rolled her eyes.
“Unlike us,” Penelope smirked widely. “Everyone else around here don’t quite yet know how to live it up!”
Aristia lifted her glass. “To us! And our brothel and nightclub!”
“And a life of debauchery and fun!” Athanasia finished off.
All of them lifted their glass and then downed their drinks.
They were, however, unaware of incoming guests that were very much not wanted (or maybe it was actually quite the opposite).
“Why are you taking me here?” the other man groused irritably and Anastasius de Alger Obelia swore the Duke could not just lighten up. Seriously.
He rolled his eyes and sneered at the other. “Just relax. Hopefully this place will help with that and get the stick out of your ass. I have business here, so just loiter around, find a man or woman to fuck or something, and get out of my hair for a bit.”
Duke Alpheus opened his mouth, but he didn’t stick around to hear him complain about whatever it was he was going to complain about.
He had a cute niece to find.
Leisurely walking up the stairs of the establishment and leaving behind his companion, he searched out for her familiar mana and went in her direction, easily finding her suite. Opening the door without knocking, he walked into the parlor and found her quickly at her desk, writing something down.
Her eyes flicked up in annoyance, only to pause and then smile slowly.
“Well, well, what do we have here?”
Anastasius held out his arms, smirking back at her.
“Miss me?”
She laughed and got up, but didn’t approach him. “And what is my dear uncle doing here all of a sudden?”
“Visiting,” he answered smartly before his smirk widened.
“And there’s a spell I’d like to try out with you.”
