Chapter Text
Diavolo’s vision is blinded by the sight of pink butterflies flying around him. Some get near his face, some are far away. The calm silence of no human existence washes over him. Gigantic red trees circle him. The dirt floor seems as it’s shining in the golden rays of the sun. The grass is long and seems as it has never been cut. Tiny bugs march like soldiers to their bases. The light feels warm on his cheeks, and the muscular man looks as though he's glowing. Diavolo doesn't know where he is, but he feels at peace.
“This is a beautiful forest, but how did I get here?”
After what he said, the butterflies stopped moving, like time is paused. They all fly once again, but this time not in a circling motion. Instead, it's like they're joining together. Slowly, the body of a person begins to form. From behind, its an average height guy with purple jeans, a pink sweater and braided pink hair. Their hair has a curly lock on the side. Suddenly, the person begins to walk away. The walking turns into sprinting and the sprinting turns into running. Diavolo involuntarily goes after the man. There's just something so interesting about them, and he doesn't know why this is happening, but Diavolo knows he has to keep going. Is this a metaphor for something in his life? Is he just endlessly chasing something he wishes he has?
The boy keeps running for what seems like forever until Diavolo just can’t keep up anymore. His legs begin to feel weak. The unknown person stops moving, and so does Diavolo. He tries to do something, but he's frozen in place. A certain ringing noise forms in the distance. The sounds comes closer and closer towards him. Too close in fact, that Diavolo begins to feel trapped. He feels like he can’t breathe anymore and tries to scream for the man to help him, but no sound comes out. His vision begins to get fuzzy with black dots at the edges and before it's completely dark, the person looks back.
His phone shakes him out of sleep. He knows it’s a signal for the day to start, but Diavolo doesn't want to go turn it off. The blankets feel too warm and he feels safe in there. No one can hurt him while he’s here. He tries to open his eyes, but they feel too heavy to budge. He eventually forces himself to do something about the alarm. The pink haired man shifts around the bed and wipes his eyes before opening them. Diavolo sits up slowly then pulls his arms back to stretch them out. There’s a little pain on the right side of his neck due to his arm always being under his head. It’s annoying, but bearable. He moves his body towards the right and gets his feet on the floor. Carpet may be annoying a lot, but this is one of the times where Diavolo appreciates it being there. Feeling cold feet first thing in the morning is not pleasant at all. He stands up and tries to walk towards the desk. The alarm always annoys him to no end, so he gets there quickly. His walk is slow since legs just sometimes don't want to be legs. Diavolo finally manages to get to his desk and grabs his phone. He slouches over and presses the “stop” button and the room goes quiet. The silence reminds him of the forest he dreamed about. He notices that he has some notifications, so he puts in the password and checks.
3 unread messages from Risotto
Diavolo decides to place the phone down. “I really don't feel like talking to anyone right now,'' he thinks to himself. “maybe later”. He opens the bedroom door and makes his way to the bathroom. When he switches on the lights, it blinds him for a few moments. After a few seconds of having his eyes shut, he opens them again and stared at the mirror “god, I look like a mess,” passes through his head. His pink hair with black leopard like dots is all in a bundle. Too many knots for him to count. He moves on to his eyes and touches his warm face with his cold hands. It’s an odd feeling, but he likes it when he touches something warm while being cold. Diavolo is wearing an oversized king crimson shirt that is so worn out that he can barely see the drawing anymore. He’s also using his typical black Calvin Klein boxers that really do make his butt look good. He turns on the shower’s hot water and waits for it to be warm enough to get in. While he waits, Diavolo quickly undresses himself. Once he does get in, the man just spaces out while under the heated water. He doesn’t know how long he is like that for but something made him randomly snapped out of his basically time skipping dissociation session.
After he finally finishes taking a shower, he looks a lot less like shit, more like the Diavolo he knows. At least the one he wants to show to the world. He puts on a towel on his hair and a towel around his waist and steps out of the bathroom, with steam quickly behind him. Diavolo goes back to his room to pick out something to wear. After who knows how long of just thinking of the perfect outfit, he just says “fuck it” and gets some black jeans with a wallet chain, a lace up magenta bodysuit lingerie, a black crop top and some black ankle boots. Even if he just throws on anything, Diavolo still looks stylish thanks to the fact that everything in his closet matches. He then walks over to his vanity and first puts on primer, then light foundation to cover some blemishes. Pink cut crease eyeshadow that nearly reaches his eyebrows, some eyeliner in a straight line and mascara. At last, his favorite part, lipstick. He chooses a matte, slightly dark magenta, to match with his lingerie. Finally, he lets his long hair free from the towel to put on some cream before brushing it. Once he’s happy with how it all looks, he unlocks his phone and checks the messages.
Risotto: Hey
Risotto: Wake up bitch
Risotto: There’s some freshman here at the lounge
Diavolo stares at the screen for some time. Why is this relevant to him? Why does it matter if some lost kid is in there.
Diavolo: ok and
Diavolo: why should i care
Before Diavolo puts his phone in the back pocket, he checks the time and sees 9:04am, good time for some breakfast. He grabbed his keys and closed the door behind him after stepping out of his dorm. He makes it down the stairs and feels his phone vibrate in his pocket. So he picked up the device once again to see more messages.
Risotto: this is gonna sound weird, but he’s asking for you.
Risotto: he has pink hair just like you
Risotto: he's really cute ngl
Diavolo: haha what the fuck
Diavolo: how does he know me
Diavolo feels a light chill down his spine. One thing he hates the most, is people trying to look more into him. There’s just something about people knowing more about him than he knows them. Never knew how this fear began but it still puts him into a little panic. Just who is this? A little pit in his stomach starts to grow, but he tries to brush it off. It can’t be anything bad right? To try to keep his mind off of it, he makes a quick run for the lounge. The walk feels a lot more longer than before. He’s usually just spacing out while walking so he never notices how long it actually takes him to get there. This situation is making his thoughts race around. Before he knows it, he’s already there. He hesitates at the glass door’s handle, before opening it
Diavolo can notice the usual group of people he hangs around with. Tiziano and Squalo down each other’s throats, Cioccolata and Secco talking about things he never wants to hear, and Carne sitting on the couch watching tv. Everything feels normal until there’s a weird presence. He scans the room for Risotto. Diavolo manages to locate him at a secluded space. He makes a call for the other man until he notices the kid Risotto was talking about. Risotto makes a hand motion to get him to get over there. The smaller boy turns back and- wait.
Why does the person, feel so…
familiar?
