“You are very sweet, Max,” he whispers. “Thank you.”
Max freezes, caught off guard. Kimi’s hand is warm, the skin soft, his grip light but lingering.
For a second, Max forgets to breathe and just stares at their touching hands.
“Y—you’re welcome,” he says finally, the words stumbling out.
Max lifts off the bed, slow and unsure, searching for something else to say but coming up empty. He walks out and closes the door behind him with a soft click, standing there in silence.
He looks down at his hand again but now he can’t stop seeing Kimi’s too.
