Annabeth’s a very straight forward girl, ready to get what she wants even if it kills her, and for a determined girl like her there is always a desperate need for coffee. She never fails to stumble upon a cute barista with striking, emerald eyes at the café, and with the current stress of university under her head, she finds him to be quite soothing. Annabeth may have managed to convince herself it was all about the need for caffeine, but when she finds out the same guy that serves her a bitter, black coffee also attends her university, a roller coaster of emotions swerves her.

Change, as defined by Merriam Webster, is the act, process, or result of making different in some particular way.
Change, as defined by Annabeth Chase, is something to be scared of. Something to fear and avoid at all costs.
It is what keeps her up night after night, staring up at the ceiling as if the paint hadn’t dried years ago. It is the thing that makes her stomach do somersaults across a mental football field, and her brain run a marathon.
Change was big, bad, and scary. It threw all the safe constants in her life for a loop and messed up all that she knew to be true in life. She craved it, but feared it just as much.
So, when faced with change she did the most sensible thing: run. The only issue was that this time, it ran just as fast.
