"That. You were doing better, at least with us, here at home. But you've been covering up head to toe for a few days now and you keep tugging on your sleeves as if you want us to never see your scars again."
"And we figure, you were doing really well before, right, so there has to be a cause for this. Did someone say something? Are you just having a few bad days where everything is harder than before? We just want to know, kiddo, so we can help however we can," Yamada softly finishes and Hitoshi's eyes instantly burn with tears.
"Oh," he whispers out and forces himself to take his hand away from his sleeve.

Summary
Hitoshi hates life, and his own especially.
He glares up at the ceiling of the bedroom, unwilling to call out to Katsuki so he can help him leave the godforsaken bed, and he's going to drag it out for as long as he can, stewing in his anger and hate and helplessness.
Which isn't all that long, really, because Katsuki is a goddamn psychic and pokes his head into the room mere ten minutes after Hitoshi woke up as if he could feel the energy in the apartment shift.
"Morning," Katsuki says, coming closer when he realises Hitoshi is awake. "How are you feeling?"
It's an innocent enough question, something every partner would ask in their situation and yet it makes rage burn hot and bright under Hitoshi's skin.

Hitoshi doesn't know what to make of Aizawa.
He's a strict teacher and he's a badass hero but most of all he's understanding and lenient and supportive when it comes to Hitoshi and that is something he has no experience with at all.
Because adults aren't like that when it comes to him.
They see his quirk and they judge him based on that; they are afraid of him or think the absolute worst or—in the case of his current foster family—try to make good use of it.
But Aizawa, he's just good. Right until he isn't.
At least Hitoshi thinks so.

"Yeah?" Hitoshi shakily says because he's so out of his depths here and he thinks he fucked up when Yamada steps in and a frown settles on his face.
"Did you just—sit there?" he asks and Hitoshi's stomach sinks because of course.
Of course there was something he was supposed to do, some kind of test they gave him and he clearly failed that one already.
His heart starts to beat heavily in his chest and his hands get clammy.
This is always the worst part—figuring out the rules in a new home, figuring out what he's supposed to do, what he's allowed to do, what his new fosters want from him.
Hitoshi has always been exceptionally bad at it.

Summary
Ever since Aizawa and Yamada brought home Eri, Hitoshi keeps spacing out.
One moment he's fine and present and everything is good and the next she laughs or says something or their guardians are paying her attention and Hitoshi loses time and bits of himself.
He never knows how much time has passed by the time he finds back to himself, but it's clearly not enough to be noticeable, because no one has said anything yet.
It's just one of his many creepy, annoying quirks, he's sure of it and it's no wonder that no one has noticed yet. Noticing means dealing with it and why would they, when they have their hands full with Eri these days?
Hitoshi adores her—he thinks he would be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't—but he thinks he also hates her.
At the very least he's jealous of her, of the attention she's getting, of the family she's getting because her getting all of that means—he won't.
