“You’re a hitman...” Aphelios' eyes glide across Sett’s face like a cat, “the former Boss.”
Sett scoffs—albeit playfully—and asks, “what gave it away?”
“Everything, big guy.” Sett has to force himself not to shudder at the nickname, especially when it’s dripping out of Aphelios' lips like honey. A familiar knot coils in the bottom of his stomach as his erection grows.
The cool night air suddenly feels too hot for him.

Summary
As one of the High Priests of the Aurora, it is Aphelios' duty to spread knowledge of the Polaris' power to the people during the winter months. But his faith in humankind is tested when he cannot find people worthy of blessings. Combined with his grievances towards the newest Polaris incarnation, he questions the point of his position, until a stranger comes along and shakes things up.
Sett, desperate to save the one person cares about, seeks out the Polaris to request a blessing from her. When his attempts to recieve it leads to a fight the High Priests, he is called to serve the Polaris for the Winter in exchange for his mother's life being saved. Forced to work alongside Aphelios, the two polar opposites must find a way to cooperate to face against those who endanger the Great Borealis.
Together, perhaps, they can reclaim their faith in a world that has turned their backs on them, and find something even more.

“I woke up before my alarm went off!” Venti replied triumphantly, puffing out her chest.
In reality, they both knew that one more tardiness on her record would have her on after-school cleaning duties for the rest of the month. And that would get in the way of Venti’s music club, the one thing she cared most about.
“Would you like a gold star to commemorate it?” Xiao teased.
“If that means a kiss.” Venti smiled in return, her fingers hooking through the choker that was fastened around Xiao’s neck to pull her face close. Their lips were only a breath away, close enough that Xiao could smell the sweet apple lip gloss that Venti wore, a flavour she had fantasised about tasting. “Then yes.”
From the moment Venti's smile first faltered, Xiao knew something was wrong.
