Does it…bother Varka? Now that’s one hell of a question. If by ‘bothered’ Flins means that Varka is upset by the reminder of Flins’ ethereal otherness, his long-lived history, and all the difficulties their incompatible lifespans will surely bring upon them further down the line, then no, not in the slightest. It’s but a small price to pay for loving Flins, and Varka certainly wouldn’t want him to change anything about himself—not for Varka’s sake, nor anyone else’s.
But if by ‘bothered’ Flins is referring to Varka’s sudden newfound, all-consuming compulsion to hear him speak fae again—a rallying war cry in the midst of battle; whispers of sweet nothings in their quiet moments together; breathless gasps and moans, punctuated by screams of Varka’s name as Flins writhes in pleasure—then yes, Varka supposes it does bother him quite a bit.
Or, Varka wants Flins to speak fae to him in bed.

Alhaitham turns a page. “I said,” he repeats smoothly, still in the dialect, “that your citations are structurally unsound, emotionally driven, and—if I’m being generous—historically masturbatory.”
One of the interns chokes audibly on his coffee. Another whispers, “Did he say masturbatory?” in an accent not native to anywhere known on the continent.
Kaveh’s chair screeches against the marble. He stands.
“Fine,” he says, in perfect, archaic Inazuman. “If we’re playing this game, then allow me to remind you that I studied abroad, you glorified footnote. You want to throw sand at me? I’ll drown you in calligraphy.”
Or, perhaps emotional repression is just another dialect they’ve both grown fluent in.

This sunny period is when Illuga begrudgingly leaves his house in just his sleeveless knit sweater. Baring his silhouette to the city without anything to blur the edges, and wincing at every pair of eyes that drift downwards before snapping respectfully back up. None of his team try to ogle, but they're only human, and they really do their best to treat Illuga just the same as they do the rest of the year.
