Summary
The Australian desert is the kind of place that teaches people how small they are.
For Max, it is supposed to be another assignment. Another rig. Another stretch of endless shifts beneath a brutal sky. He tells himself he can survive anything if he works hard enough. If he is useful enough. If he keeps moving.
But exhaustion has a way of becoming something else when nobody is looking.
The heat is relentless. The work never stops. The days blur together until Max can no longer tell where the job ends and he begins. And somewhere between skipped meals, sleepless nights, and the endless machinery of the rig, loneliness starts to feel like a physical thing.
Unfortunately, Daniel keeps noticing.
He keeps appearing in the quiet spaces between shifts, with bad coffee, stubborn concern, and questions Max doesn't know how to answer. Questions nobody has ever asked for long enough to hear the truth.
Beneath steel towers, impossible stars, and the vast Australian sky, two very tired men begin orbiting each other while Max discovers that wanting to be seen might be far more frightening than being alone.

Summary
Two Victors. One haunted by silence, the other by him.
Daniel survived the Games years ago, but something inside him never left the arena. He smiles for the cameras, speaks when spoken to, and feels nothing. Max is newer, starved for love, raised on violence, and burning with a need to protect what no one ever protected in him.
Thrown together by the Capitol, they orbit each other like wounded stars, love blooming in the wreckage.
In a world that demands obedience and sells beauty like blood, devotion becomes defiance. And the act of holding someone through the night becomes its own revolution. It’s a story of boys who were never meant to live, trying to.
Or, a Maxiel Hunger Games AU.

Summary
There is a man. Or the shadow of one. He forgets the shape of days, the order of mirrors, and the weight of his own name. Somewhere, a voice calls through water. A hand reaches through the snow. Love, or something like it, returns again and again, wearing a different face.
This is not a story. It is a wound. A prayer. A film of ash in morning light. A childhood that bleeds into a hospital corridor. Memory distorts. Silence breathes. A boy walks into a lake that remembers. He is not looking for answers. Only for the sound of footsteps that do not vanish.
In the quiet, a choice is to be made: either to remain, to feel, to love without rescue.
Or, in the end, only that there is no end. Only light falling on cracked glass. Only breath.

Summary
Who is Max? A figure carved out of speed, precision, and determination. The world champion. A title so definitive in itself that at one time it would elucidate bravery and admiration, but now it is laden with heavy guilt and ruin. The world hails him for the victories, but he feels only losses. They can’t see the hands that shake under the weight of this existence; he so desperately wants to throw away after the crash. There had been a time when a victory brought joy; when the podium felt like home. But that time was a memory—a ghost of a life once lived, replaced by the creeping paralysis of guilt, the suffocating dread that nothing, no achievement, no glory, would ever be enough.

Kimi felt it happen in real time.
Trust.
And he fucking hated it.
Hated how quickly Max leaned into it.
Hated that he was about to use it.Like that one word was enough.
Like Kimi knowing what he was doing made this—safe.
It doesn’t.
But Max didn’t know that.
Max didn’t know anything about this. And Kimi—
was about to give him wings.

Kimi has a past; Max has a bad day. Those two things were never supposed to intersect.
Fixing it has always had a price. Kimi isn’t used to being the one who pays it.Bookmarked by wanderlust_lib

Summary
"Winning was described to him in his early youth as a thing needed to validate one’s worth. Jos would not have Sisyphus for a son, with no mountain top ever achieved. Nothing is out of the question if it gets you there, his father had said. Life, limb, soul; all are currency that, if they must, can be exchanged for the top of the world. One just needs to know when and where to spend them. After all, we’ve all got a limited number of each."

Summary
“Could you hear what I’m saying?”
Nico blinked. It wasn’t that there was anything that could be seen, closing or opening eyelids made no difference. There was nothing to be observed with eyes. He was all alone in a bronze jar, waiting for someone, anyone that could let him out. The sound was faint. It was probably an illusion made by his brain.
“Neeks!” He caught his sister’s anxious voice before falling further into darkness. What the title applies.

Summary
Charles chuckled—leaning closer, voice dangerously soft. "Your God won't save you, Max. When you fell, it wasn't Him who caught you." His gaze burned into Max's, unyielding. "It was me. Always me."
Max has a lot of issues, Charles just wants to make him better and fuck him up in the process.
