Summary
Attention! The creator of this fanfic has watched episode 9 of TADC and is running wild with theories.
This work of fiction showcases Jax's warped mindset. It is not an excuse, nor is it justification for his actions and what motivates him to do those things.Jax's mindset was a difficult thing to grasp. He was so self-indulgent it bordered on narcissism, yet with every wrong step he took, his self-hatred only grew deeper. Jax's greatest enemy was himself, and he knew that—no matter how hard he'd tried to repress it.
He loved every time Zooble called him out. He thrived on Ragatha's outbursts. His heart fluttered whenever Gangle whimpered at the sight of him.
Yet a hole remained where his chest should have been.
I do not ship Jax with Gangle. They would be a horrible couple. However, Jax has some unresolved feelings that he sucks at showing.

Summary
It was halftime at the Big Tops Stadium; mannequins cheered in joy and awe as the Gloink band played their marching band routine. Mannequins dressed in cheerleading outfits danced on the sidelines, drawing out hoots and hollers from the NPC crowd. The strong smell of popcorn and hot dogs hung in the air like a miasma– it was the picture of the good ol’ fashioned “American Dream.”
Jax couldn’t think of a single place he wanted to be less than here right now.

Summary
She peered over at him. “Shut the door.”
Jax was staring at her in a way she wasn’t sure she’d seen before. His expression was so … open. It was the only word that came to mind. He seemed both apprehensive and prepared to absorb whatever she threw at him at the same time.
Maybe that meant his guard was up—but he did as she asked, anyway, putting a hand on the door and pushing until it shut with a click.
(Or: Pomni attends Zooble and Gangle's marriage reception, and Jax takes her home after.)

Summary
“I just,” Pomni whispered, doing this little slow-blink that drove him nuts right up at him, and his heart clenched. She seemed surprised to admit, “I can’t think of anything to say.”
Jax thought that someone could have driven a train through the place right now and still he wouldn’t have turned away from her. The truth was he didn’t have any ideas himself of what to say, but in disclaiming this herself she hadn’t said anything he needed to respond to, anyway. He could have stayed silent and they both would have been content with that, he thought. But her eyes were so open and honest and there was this squeezing feeling in his chest that felt deeper than a heartbeat, and he heard his own voice pipe up, anyway.
“I …” he whispered. Quietly admitting, “Me, neither.”
