Aiden sounds skeptical, “You have a date? You?” Mack thinks that maybe he should be offended at how doubtful Aiden sounds. But, he wouldn’t believe him either.
“Yes, I have a date, you jerk. He’s my boyfriend,” Another lie.
“Since when do you have a boyfriend?” Aiden asks, and his voice has hardened.
“...Since..two months ago?” He’s a terrible liar.

In order to save face in front of his ex-fiance, Mack lies and says that he's bringing his boyfriend. He doesn't have a boyfriend. So, when Will Smith crashes into his life, Mack comes up with the perfect plan. Will can be his "boyfriend" for the week. “Then prove it.” Fowler stares straight at him, and Will shifts uncomfortably.
“Prove what?” He asks dumbly.
“That you can sleep with anyone.”
“And how would I prove that? Find someone at the party and sleep with them?” Will’s had enough of Fowler, but his competitiveness is starting to control his decisions.
At his question, a few of his teammates’ smiles are sharp and hungry. Will already regrets getting involved.
“Oh no, that’d be far too easy. Has to be someone who’d never go for you; someone who seemingly hates your guts,”

He definitely did not meet up with Will Smith Hockey from BC again. They did not see each other in the park between their dorms, they did not spend an hour talking on the seesaw, and Mack did not feel that weird pressure under his ribs, that could be interpreted as both butterflies and as his guts giving him a warning sign, informing him what he already knows - that Will Smith is no good for him, no matter how blue his eyes are.
And they’re really really blue. The bluest Mack has ever seen.–
