He doesn’t know Dewdrop’s love language, but he can find out! All he has to do is run a simple test over the course of the next five weeks, one ‘love language’ per week. He’ll take notes, collect sufficient data, and by the end of the five weeks he’ll go over his findings and draw a conclusion on which one is Dew’s. It’s a flawless plan. What could possibly go wrong?

Dew slowly turns his gaze towards the shore, eyes immediately locking with the quintessence ghouls. He’s watching, alright.
Dew looks back down at Rain, faces so close together that their lips brush when he speaks, his next words whispered directly into Rain's mouth. “So give him something worth watching.” -

Summary
Dew has been completely fine since his element transition. Like, weirdly fine for someone who was essentially torn apart from the inside out and put back together, not quite the same as he was before. Except maybe he’s not as okay about it as he thought, if he’s just relived the entire ritual in vivid detail in his sleep.
Or: Dew has a nightmare and forces himself to stay awake for two days straight over it. Rain gets him to finally sleep.

“Yes,” she says. “Because he was flirting with you and he knows it, and now he’s panicking like a Victorian maiden who accidentally saw an ankle.”
Dennis stares, stunned. “He wasn’t—”
She lifts a brow.
He swallows. The memory of the car ride flashes through him—Robby’s hand on his thigh, squeezing for half a moment, and the way he smiled, flustered.
“Oh,” he murmurs, realization sinking with somewhat of a dullness in his chest.
Santos beams like a proud parent. “There it is.”
Or, some boundaries are crossed, and both Dennis and Robby are freaking out about it.

Summary
“You walk out of that door and we’re done. We’re nothing.” Robby threatens as Dennis is about to push the glass doors open, the privacy curtain open for everyone to see now.
Dennis is a doctor now and with that comes the knowledge that this is the right thing to do. Robby needs help. Professional help.
“We’re nothing either way, Michael.” Dennis ignores the way his voice cracks around itself, “I’d rather lose you and have you alive.”

Dennis washed up and headed toward the room, pulling up the chart one more time on his tablet as he walked. Stable. No new changes since he last checked. Just waiting. Still not looking hopeful. He knocked lightly before entering. He stepped inside and pulled the curtain partially closed behind him, giving the family privacy. The overhead lights were dimmer now. The steady hum of the ventilator filled the quiet.
He turned and froze, a stuttered breath leaving his mouth as he choked on his greeting.
A gun.Or, Post-Sabbatical, Dennis is held hostage by a patient’s grieving family member.

Summary
The idea of disappointing Robby felt worse than the panic attack, worse than the humiliation of losing control in the hallway, worse than an actual heart attack. He had seen how Robby handled it when Doctor Mohan cracked under the pressure, how cold his voice had gone, how sharp and cutting every word had been until she looked like she might shatter right there in the middle of the department. Dennis couldn’t stop imagining that same look turning on him.
Or, Dennis has a panic attack after making a critical mistake. He doesn’t want Robby to know.
