In the wake of the second Dark Flour War, Shadow Milk Cookie finds himself accepting Pure Vanilla’s offer to return with him to the Vanilla Republic.
Cursed by proximity and afflicted with a connection deeper than he was willing to accept, he finds himself agreeing to assist Pure Vanilla in his attempts to rescue a friend whose sacrifice weighed heavily upon them all.

Even now, he wished to trace his hands along his soulmark and then his others. To feel that they were the same, with more than just what he’d seen as Truthless Recluse. To have the other's skin under his palm, to see how the tattoo blended with the blue of his body and the scars that he was sure dotted the places he’d been hurt. But that would do nothing except scare him off. Pure Vanilla wasn’t even certain that the gift he’d prepared today wouldn’t be too much for the other to handle.
But, he had nothing to lose but his will to try. And Pure Vanilla was certain that he would never lose the desire to make his other half understand the depth of his emotions.

Viktor tilts his head, acting cute. “So… what?”
Jayce looks down at Viktor’s lips again, dying to dive in for more but holding himself back. “So, what is this?” He says, his voice low. He reaches a hand forward, pressing his thumb into Viktor’s hipbone.
Viktor hums, thinking to himself for a moment before crowding into Jayce’s space again and kissing him hard.
Pulling back with a dazed look, Viktor's hands slide down the front of his chest until the warmth of his palms rest against Jayce's stomach.
“Lets just call it a fun summer break?”
Hired by his mother's friend to clean her pool during summer break, Jayce meets Viktor and the two get on like a match to fireworks. Throughout their fun, casual relationship, Jayce yearns to learn more about the whimsical boy who takes his breath away.
