The skeleton shakes his head slightly, a boney hand sliding across his skull. "Ah- well- that wasn't free Doll, 'course you'll have to pay me for that..." He trails off, his cocky smirk ever present on his face as he looks you up and down for a mere second, "...little favor." He pinches his pointer finger and thumb together before rubbing them together.

Her boss not wanting her to associate with the people that would further pull her into a world that she was scratching the surface of just by working there. But after staying just a few minutes later then she was supposed to she stands face to face with a gold toothed smartass with a devilish smirk- his red eyes trained on her every move.

To hold admiration towards a man who never interacted with anyone was foolish. To want to get closer to him despite knowing what he's capable of was even more so. But was it truly so foolish if her devotion was eventually noticed? Perhaps the reclusive man held more in his heart than cold calculations, if only for one person. One woman, who managed to steal his soul and held it gently despite his crimes.
Or: Reader is determined to help in any way she can and manages to slowly slip through XGaster's walls and into his soul. Neither knows what to do and is too blind to notice the pining. XAlphys and Ink are amused, until they aren't.

Summary
An intense romance blooms between Corrupted X!Gaster and a brilliant human scientist named Sage who has fallen into his dimension out of nowhere. Gaster isn't sure why he isn't killing the human on sight, and Sage doesn't know why they're seemingly so into the skeleton that keeps threatening their life. The real denial begins for them both when Sage's legs give out and they're forced into contact with Gaster as he picks them up and carries them to another room. What happens when someone who's dedicated his life to being cold and unfeeling starts to notice his heart thawing out? What happens when someone who's isolated themselves in academia for decades meets someone that they don't want to isolate from, even though he seems to be moderately evil? Short story long... What happens is around 55k words. So far.
Notable: Sage's POV is told in the second person, making it a reader insert. Sage is AFAB with top surgery, so the language used when it eventually gets smutty goes off of that anatomy.
There is NO PLOT related to the actual XTale AU. I just found the character premise of X!Gaster to be interesting, so I ran with it from there. Credit to Jael Peñaloza for the creation of the character.
