Summary
The front door swung open and Eddie stepped out in all of his annoyed glory. “Buck, what’s taking so- oh,” he said, his face scrunched up like he’d just smelled something bad.
“Oh,” Tommy echoed, the smile on his face freezing into a pained grimace as the dots in his mind started to connect.
“What are you doing here?” Eddie demanded, arms crossed over his chest.
“He came to check on me. See how I was doing after the whole ‘Bobby is back from the dead’ thing,” Buck was quick to explain, since Tommy’s brain was still too busy rebooting. “Isn’t that nice?”
If anything, that set Eddie off even more. “What, and he couldn’t do that over the phone?”
Or, the one in which Tommy finds out Eddie's back from Texas

Summary
“Your sister obviously doesn’t need the money, not after what she’s set to gain from her late husband’s estate.” The man said, and Buck tried not to react. The fact his sister survived something like what Doug did was amazing and not a trivial fact.
“But what about your own medical expenses?” The woman asked curiously.
“Don’t have any.” Buck shrugged.
“Not that you’re currently aware of, no, but having been a test tube baby to cure a brother with cancer could have plenty of unseen issues.” She shrugged. Buck blinked at her, his mind going entirely blank and quiet. He would have thought he was lucid dreaming if it weren’t for the fact the detectives were still watching him expectantly, only moving to shuffle papers in a file or blink or breathe and there weren’t any rainbows or any insane kaleidoscope effects happening. It also told him he wasn’t breathing so he sucked in a breath.
“Come again?” Buck’s voice cracked.
Or
Buck learns about Daniel during his interrogation about the bank robbery.

Buck is anxious about it, knowing there will be questions, but also wanting to get it over with. He doesn't know how or what to say about how he grew up, but having people he trusts ask questions seems like a good place to start.

Summary
“We brought something.” Margaret said as she got up and went to the living room, coming back with a bag of some kind. She got a box out, wiped a few tears away, before setting it reverently on the table. It was a wooden box a lot like Maddie had. Daniel’s name was carved on the top in an intricate pattern. “This was the box we made for him.” Buck just stared uncomprehendingly at it. The box on the table was Daniel’s baby box. The keepsake they made for their son. Something showing how much they loved him. Like they loved Maddie. Like they obviously didn’t love Buck.
“I don’t …” Buck cleared his throat and shook his head, trying to breathe so he wouldn’t cry.
“This? This is bullshit. You need to go.” Eddie stated, standing up and putting a firm hand on Buck’s shoulder. “You think the way to show Buck that you actually care about him as your son is to bring in the keepsake box you made for Daniel? When you openly admitted to never making one for him? Buck, go to the room.” Buck swallowed thickly and stood up, Eddie’s hand sliding from his shoulder to his back.
“I’m sorry.” Buck whispered, meeting Eddie’s eyes. Eddie’s face went soft.

Summary
Finding the meeting was a complete accident. Buck had just been walking around, trying to clear his head. At first he’d just thought it was a normal bereavement group meeting. And since his latest attempt at a relationship was dead, he had actually died for a little while, and he was constantly dealing with life and death situations on the job, he figured it wasn’t a bad place to be. Except then the group leader stood up and started talking about their sister who was fighting colon cancer. And … actually, everyone who spoke was dealing with a family member or close friend who was fighting cancer or who had passed away from it.
OR
Buck accidentally wanders into a support group for people who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis for a family member/friend. And he realizes that he never actually sought out or got support for learning he was a savior sibling. Opening up to strangers going through what he was going through was easier than he thought.

Summary
“I thought it was one of those made-up movie places.” Buck shrugged, finally handing Hen his ID. “You know, like the coffee shop in ‘Friends’ or Hogwarts.”
“So how the hell did you get a license?” Eddie asked, sounding nearly as hysterical as Bobby, but Chim had disbelievingly repeated ‘Hogwarts?’.
“I knew a guy.” Buck sighed.
“Oh my god.” Chim burst out laughing. “You have a fake ID!”

Summary
Buck's eyes fluttered open. The ceiling swam into focus for half a second before his gaze dragged downward.
His boyfriend’s dark hair was an absolute disaster, sticking up in every direction, and his broad shoulders were bracketing Buck’s thighs. He was hovering right over the junction of Buck's legs, his face buried in the slick warmth Buck hadn't even realized his body was producing yet. As Buck let out a confused, raspy breath, Eddie’s dark eyes flicked up. He looked sleepy and heavy lidded, those deep brown eyes catching the morning light and glittering with something that looked a lot like mischief.
"Happy birthday," Eddie murmured against him, the words vibrating through sensitive flesh.
///
Buck woke up in the morning of his birthday to Eddie licking into his pussy.

Summary
Eddie shoves a legal pad and a pen against Buck’s chest. He sits next to Buck, so close their thighs touch.
“Write your contract,” Eddie says.
“Our contract.”
“Such a romantic.”
This isn’t romance, though. But Buck doesn’t want to remind Eddie of that, because he might take the legal pad—or, more importantly, the promise of Buck getting to touch his body—away. So Buck scrawls Buck and Eddie’s Friendship Sex Contract.
Or: Eddie and Buck strike up a friends with benefits arrangement. Every good understanding needs a contract. And a detailed list of likes and dislikes, while they’re at it.

Summary
“Dad said that if anything happens to him, I’ll get to live with you. He wrote it in his wish,” Chris says simply, like he’s making complete, logical sense. “And he signed it and everything.”
“His . . . Wish.” Buck repeats. “That he signed?” He’s racking his brain to think of when Eddie might have brought this up or asked him or even mentioned this, but he’s coming up with absolutely nothing. Not a word has left Eddie’s lips about a will or any future plans, but then it suddenly makes sense how he’d come home from his secret meeting a little more relaxed, and then telling Buck to go have some bonding time with Chris, and –
“Oh my god,” Buck groans, covering his face with his hands. “Your dad wrote me into his will.”
“Will!” Chris shouts, the word finally clicking, but then he quickly pauses. “I like wish better.”

Summary
Okay, this was a new step.
He wasn’t a stranger to masturbating in this bathroom. But usually he saves himself for the shower, refusing to do it anywhere else where he could risk Eddie seeing.
But this is a different tone. It has a dangerous tilt to it. Eddie is in his bedroom, wide awake, getting ready, and here Buck stands, only in his boxers, slowly losing subtlety as he grinds further into the counter until he’s at full mast.
It’s wrong. He knows this.
***
TLDR: Eddie walks in on Buck fingering himself after he accidentally moans his name.

Summary
“Get home safe,” Buck says. Then, as always, he thinks: I love you.
Eddie goes very, very still. His breathing stutters to a stop. There’s a strange expression on his face, his mouth twisting in that way it does when he doesn’t know what to say.
Buck squints blearily at him. “What?”
A muscle in his jaw twitches once. Twice. The muted light illuminates the quiet movement of his throat as he swallows.
“What’d you just say?”
“Get home safe,” Buck repeats, a yawn overtaking the last word. “Why…?”
Or: the one where Buck, drowsy and delirious on pain medication, confesses his love to Eddie without realizing it.

“And you’re posting this because you’re an ally,” Hen says, realization dawning on her face.
“Yeah,” Buck confirms. “Why is this so confusing?”
“It’s not,” Hen says. Chimney opens his mouth, as if to object, and Hen kicks him sharply. “As a card-carrying lesbian, I thank you for your allyship.”
“Awesome.” Buck grins, relieved. He pauses as her words register. “Wait. Do you actually have a card? Is this a thing? I feel like I should know this.”
Based on the way Hen bursts into laughter, he’s pretty sure the answer is no.

Summary
He finds Bobby in the kitchen, and he gives Buck the task of julienning the carrots for dinner. Buck only has half his mind on it though, and he must fidget enough for Bobby to look up at him.
“Buck?” he asks, probing gently in that way he does when he can see Buck needs to get something off his head.
“D-do you think Eddie and I smell too much like each other?” he asks, and Bobby gives him this smile that feels a little telling.
“I think,” Bobby says, looking back down at his chopping board as he expertly dices onions, “that you and Eddie smell like two people who spend a lot of time together, and who care for each other a great deal.”
Buck looks down at his own half-cut julienne carrots.
“I don’t know if that answers my question,” Buck mutters.
“Au contraire, Buck, I think it answers it just enough" Bobby says, letting out a fond laugh.

Summary
“I can’t sleep,” Spooky Doorway Eddie says. “Can we just keep fighting tomorrow?”
The annoyance drops from a boil to a simmer. He reaches for the covers, holding up a corner in an invitation for a temporary truce. “I’m still mad at you.”
“I know,” Eddie offers, crossing the room and slipping beneath the sheets. “I’m mad at you, too.”
Or, a first fight and a truce.
