And as it swallows him whole, and he falls through fiery pits of yellow, he sees a reflection of himself, with yellow eyes that he knows now to associate with people who had committed unforgivable crimes. He had a shadow. And now the judge, his parents, the rumours that had been relentlessly spread around Shujin, and all those liars in the police department and media became true. Because if Akira had a palace, then he was no better than the people he had taken down.

In retrospect, that sounded far more morbid than he meant it to.
