Suguru begins to wonder if it’s lonely for Gojo. Keeping an inch between him and the world.
Not an inch, a voice that sounds suspiciously like Shoko reminds him. Infinity.

When a barrage of low-level curses ambushes them in Roppongi, can he sense their velocity, the twist of the wind? Then, on July 12th, in a sour-smelling alley in Katsushika ward, Suguru catches him. Hunched over, spindly legs crouched, a street-worn cat pressing her nose to his fingertips. It licks her sandpaper tongue over his knuckles. Rubs the flat of her forehead against his palm. Gojo hums, pushing a tangled cowlick back with his thumb, a serene little smile on his face.
Yes, Suguru thinks. It must be lonely.

This is not unusual.
What is unusual is the location—the corridor outside OR three is not, technically, a designated space for interdepartmental disputes. There is a process for that. There is a form. The form is a single page, double-sided, and it asks the parties to describe the nature of the conflict in neutral language and to identify three potential resolutions.
Dr. Geto and Dr. Gojo have never filled out this form.
The administrator who handles this form stopped expecting them to at around the four-month mark, approximately six years ago.
or: Geto and Gojo work in the same hospital. This is, according to most of the staff, a mistake.
