Tony Stark was dying.
The palladium poisoning was getting worse by the day, and no amount of chlorophyll sludge, whiskey, or denial was going to fix it.
Then New York called to inform him that his biological son’s guardians had died unexpectedly, leaving Tony with temporary emergency custody of a fourteen-year-old kid who very clearly wanted nothing to do with him.
There was a reason Tony never wanted to be a father.

Summary
Most people are born with a simple name etched on their skin. Sometimes in another language, if their marked is foreign, but always readable. Tim Drake, heir to the Drake kingdom, on the other hand, has only a stamp of strange letters between his shoulder blades. A name, surely, but in a language that no scholar or mage has ever been able to identify for him. That is, until Ra's al Ghul, the Demon's Head, claims it as his own from centuries past.
Now, Tim has to find proof that he's lying, or that the etching of his own name on Ra's' skin is faked. That, or belong to him for the rest of his life. He knows what he'd prefer.

Tim bites his tongue and moves a pawn into check; a stupid, sacrificial move. Thinking about Jason would do him no good. It’d only hurt him in the end.
“Surely you’re not still holding out hope, detective?” He toys with the castle that’s in perfect position to take Tim’s pawn. He lifts his eyes and locks them on Tim’s, a pitying smirk playing on his lips. “You don’t still think that dismal boy will come for you, do you? The Red Hood never truly loved—”
