Summary
Hermione is trying to move on with her life after her divorce, unfortunately her ex husband keeps making that difficult. Then Hermione finds herself getting an experience she hadn’t expected, with someone she’d never considered before. Someone who somehow makes her feel more comfortable, and more free to be herself than she’s ever felt before with anyone.
As one night becomes more and their connection grows Hermione starts to feel herself slipping more and more into a relationship she’d never considered but that nevertheless fits perfectly.After losing her husband Fleur never really expected she’d fall in love with a witch, not that she’s complaining. Especially when her daughter seems to love Hermione just as much as she starts to realise she does. Fleur finds it all increasingly agreeable to her.
If only her family would stop making such a big deal of it. Well her family and her late husband’s family… and the magical media, and that idiot ex husband of her lover’s. If only everyone would be so good as to stop trying to get in the middle of her relationship with their unwanted opinions. The war has not gone well for anyone. The Alliance has three months left before collapse. The Horde is not much better off. With neither victory or death as options, Sylvanas proposes an alternative. A treaty, to ease tensions and open borders, with a political hostage to ensure that both sides stay in line. A marriage with many political implications and Sylvanas would only accept one person. Jaina Proudmoore.
And Jaina Proudmoore made for the perfect hostage. If the Alliance moves wrong, Jaina dies. The Horde attacks, and Jaina reduces Orgrimmar to a wisp of a memory in the minds of children.
Of course, no one expected Sylvanas and Jaina to be anything more than uneasy partners with each other, least of all Sylvanas and Jaina...

When Sylvanas Windrunner calls for a treaty, it is with Teldrassil in her grasp and her people dying of starvation and exposure. With the Alliance facing a similar fate, the two factions were fighting a war no one could win.
But with innocents dying in the streets and no end in sight, peace had become less of a concept and more of a necessity. So Jaina had made the sacrifice, and tied herself to Sylvanas Windrunner in a rather permanent fashion. The effects of Theramore still ravaged her body and soul, and with nothing left to lose, she returns to the goal she had clutched so tightly to her chest. Peace on Azeroth.
She just has to avoid killing her wife, first.
