“On sand?”
Zuko will never admit it, but being carried feels pretty nice. The lifeguard sets him down and eyes him warily.
“Are you really all by yourself?” he asks in a worried tone. “No friends in town you can call to check on you?”
“No,” Zuko confirms. Tears are forming again with alarming speed; his foot throbs painfully with every passing second.
“What kind of burrito do you want?”
“You don’t have to —“ Zuko repeats.
“I’m getting al pastor. You like al pastor?”
AU: Zuko falls for Sokka, the super hot lifeguard who helps him after an unfortunate encounter with a stingray.

Summary
The first goal of any foster placement is always reunification. Except…John didn’t seem to have anyone to be reunified with.
Jack and Robby are newly married, and have made the decision to become foster parents. Enter John Shen, a foster child struggling with diabetes, who could really use two brilliant doctors taking care of him...as long as they can put aside their own insecurities to be there for him.
Can be read alone, but this is also a prequel to Stay Gold--this is Jack and Robby eight years before that. They are less mentally healthy, less emotionally competent, and less experienced being parents. But they're still doing their best.

Or, Robby and Dana use each other as pretend significant others whenever a patient doesn’t take no for an answer. Jack, being new, has no idea about the arrangement.

Jack Abbot stops breathing at exactly 8:52pm.
“Oh my God,” he hears someone exclaim, but he couldn’t tell you who.
As he takes in the figure on the gurney being wheeled into the ER, the IV in his arm, the blood in his hair, and the air being forced into his lungs every three seconds, Jack’s whole chest seizes up.
“It’s Doctor Robby,” One of the paramedics exclaims, like Jack can’t recognise him. Like they hadn’t kissed each other goodbye on the roof less than two hours ago.
