It was a nice, big house. She went around looking all around while Ilya unloaded stuff from the car among them the blanket she had grown attached to at the Dover's.
A few things were clear: there is a lot of space to play and run around, there are a lot of dog toys Ilya had gotten her, and there was another smell.
Another human smell.
Somebody was coming over regular enough for it to be in the house but not living here all the time. Then Anya spotted the garden and now that took all her attention for the next several hours.or the long game as told by Anya

Shane thought that by the time he was thirty, he’d be married and on the waitlist to adopt a baby. He spent his twenties in one serious longterm relationship after another, after all.
Instead he is now twenty-nine, single for over a year and looking for a nice, stable boyfriend: preferably college educated and in the same place in life as he is.
The only problem is that the bartender at the restaurant Shane takes his dates to is the hottest man Shane has ever seen in his life.

Most of the time, Ilya doesn’t pick on him about it. Partly because Ilya knows when to pick and choose his battles, and any battle relating to a Shane routine is lost before it starts – but mainly because the little sleepy snuffling sounds that he insists he doesn’t make because he’s not sleeping, he’s meditating, so shut the fuck up, are really fucking cute.
But sometimes, Ilya wants – needs – his husband’s undivided attention in their last few moments of peace before another loud, hectic, and exhausting day full of other people stealing it.
Or maybe annoying Shane just enough to get him to slam the door a little bit too hard on his way out of the car, to give Ilya one quick dose of his adorable angry kitten face, is Ilya’s own form of morning meditation.
“Shane.”
Shane starts a bit, but otherwise doesn’t move or open his eyes. “Hmm?”
