When Jeralt learns of a particularly strange job, he knows better than to take it. After all, dragons died out centuries ago; even if he could best one, he doesn’t believe there are any more left to fight. But with a hefty sum of gold offered to anyone that can retrieve a dragon's heart, he acts against his better judgement and decides to try.
Still, the last thing in the world he’s expecting is to actually find a dragon. Much less that he might just win her heart.

Summary
Claude has big plans for his debut into the world of herpetology. Unfortunately, those plans involve flying halfway around the world and setting up camp for three weeks isolated in a forest, all on the hope of finding a reptile that most scholars don't believe exists.
At least he has the hired help of Byleth, an experienced camper and survivalist. Although, her presence does give him yet another mystery to ponder: why, exactly, is he so curious as to what's going on behind that stoic expression of hers?

(AU where Byleth never came to Garreg Mach, TWSITD resurrect Nemesis and the Ten Elites, and nobles must meet the men that afforded them their privilege and power. A story featuring riots, reunions, and romance, plus an inconsequential toad because apparently why not.)

A stressed, grumpy Claude decides to celebrate his birthday by his lonesome with an evening in his personal toilet. An equally stressed, gloomy Byleth joins him. An evening dedicated to de-stressing from their roles turns into something sweeter and - especially for the secret-happy Claude, blissfully safe - for the two lovers, both still new to the realm of romance.
