Summary
Lachlan Pucey joins the Montreal Metros as a rookie with all eyes on him. After a year spent in the AHL, developing and preparing for his NHL debut, he's not going to let anything distract him from playing the best hockey he can and proving to everyone watching that he's just as good of a player as his old man was and his big brother is.
Hank Crawford is a second round draft pick that comes into the league after two years playing the college circuit. He's got no one's expectations to live up to save for his own, but there's a lot riding on him making a name for himself in Montreal. It's the best day of his life when Shane Hollander calls to invite him to training camp in September, bar none.
Lachlan and Crawford are fast friends. Hard not to be when they have so much in common, when it's so easy to kill an afternoon hanging out and playing video games beside each other on the couch. When it starts to feel like the only deep breaths they're able to take are the ones they take when they're side by side, on the ice or at home or out in the city.
They're fast friends. Good friends. Best friends. That's all they can be; hockey is everything else.

Believing in fathers is a little like believing in Santa Claus. Once you realize that the Santa in the shopping center is just some guy in a suit, that’s all you’re going to be able to see for the rest of your life. Just some guy in a suit. And then you’re gonna feel real fucking stupid for all the things you did and said when you really, actually believed in him—all the letters you wrote and all the time you spent trying to be on your very best behavior when you thought he was watching, as if it meant anything at all. It’ll all feel really fucking stupid, and it’ll all look really fucking obvious in hindsight and you’re never going to ever be able to pretend like that again, maybe about anything.

Summary
He still didn't know if this was normal - asking your friends about how good they were at sucking dick. Maybe this was how friendship worked for other people, if you weren't both hockey players, if one of you wasn't married, if your friendship didn't depend so much on knowing as little about each other as possible. If you knew the other person liked sucking dick.
Maybe he just likes it when Rose looks at him like that, awestruck, like he's scored a hattrick. He doesn't know anyone else who would be this impressed by his knowledge of having sex with men, which is unfair, seeing how long he's worked to build it.
Maybe that's why he ends up where he does, one arm extended to stick two fingers in Rose's mouth, her pink lipgloss sticky, smearing around his fingers, three of her fingers pressed as far as they can go into his, both of them drooling and stifling little snorts of laughter.
Rose asks a lot of questions.

“If it’s not funny, then it’s just terribly sad,” Eames replies, sympathy lurking in his expression. “And I would rather laugh than cry.”
Something so strange about grieving a person who is still there

Summary
Nahyuta is drowning again. His father is on the chopping block, Apollo wants to join him, and if Nahyuta doesn't win this case… "I speak to you now as a servant of the Holy Mother, Mr. Justice. Do not defend this man tomorrow. He is surely guilty. Her Holiness does not favor the self-flagellating; do not bring death upon yourself for a misplaced sense of duty."
"I don't care. It doesn't matter; I'm defending him. You cannot change my mind."
"You would put your own father to death?" Miles Edgeworth asks, expression aghast behind his glasses. Nahyuta wants to say he wouldn't, that he's sorry, that he doesn't want to, and please, Chief Prosecutor, don't you understand this feeling? Don't you all have Trucy Wright to consider? Don't you know this?
