She’s spent the last seven years at Hogwarts in the same House as Sirius. She’s witnessed with her own eyes how he dotes on his younger brother, saw the countless letters dropped off and sent by owl post before Master Regulus Black joined him at school and was promptly Sorted into Slytherin. She’s heard Regulus call out, “Siri!” in the same loving tone that Lily used to call out, “Tuney!”
Lily knows firsthand how excruciating it is to have the older sibling you love more than life itself suddenly gone when you thought you would be together forever.
She would never, could never, do that to Regulus.
