The concept of soulmate marks is to ensure everyone that has it that there is someone out there for you, someone who will love you until the day you die. Neil thinks that he could never love someone other than his soulmate, but his plan to meet his soulmate, to love his significant other, all went down the drain the moment he fell in love with no other than Shaun Murphy. And right then and there Neil thinks fate can be altered as long as you are determine to do so. After all, Neil wouldn't let his soulmate mark be in the way of him loving Shaun.
