The chains clanked together loudly in his mind in a miserable cacophony that reminded him that he couldn’t be happy, and it didn’t matter what he did. He would always be bound by self hatred, always bound by the notion that any and all joys and comforts that surrounded food were unwarranted wherever he was concerned.
