Summary
Home is where there’s a hook for hanging hats. It’s the place where you sweat in the hot summer air that’s trapped between your crooked walls, where you labor with a rusted handsaw until the approximation of a pegged shelf emerges, where you finally get to wipe the exhaustion from your brow and string your hat up with a sigh. It’s work and rest all at once, with repose in the woodgrain and aches in the cushions. You build it, you maintain it, you live it.

Summary
Logically, Branzy knows he’s trekking down a horrible path, that addiction doesn’t start and end with substances. He’s not forgetful, not about Clown, and he remembers his warning that this life was dangerously alluring. Because rollercoasters must warn their riders, and beaches must warn their swimmers, and Clown must warn his Branzy. No one reads the signs by the rides, though, and no one decides against swimming because of the yellow flag out, and Branzy doesn’t want to get off this high.

Summary
For example, when he tilts his body the rest of the way over the counter, slotting his lips over Spoke’s, it’s flavored like cherries and illicit activity. When Spoke runs his tongue over the seam of his mouth, it tastes of bursting citrus and acidic words about men with men. He doesn’t dare grab Parrot’s chin, won’t bring himself to angle their faces and deepen it. The entire kiss lasts with the ephemeral sweetness of a snowflake on a tongue, ready to melt away the second the bell at the door rings.
They don’t need to exacerbate their differences. It’s bad enough, Spoke’s abnormal smoky skin and Parrot’s two-toned eyes. They don’t need anyone to see this, too.

Summary
A harsh expulsion of breath and consonants fans across his cheek. It takes him a moment to order the vowels into a word: Branzy. He turns, facing the man who uttered it.
“Branzy,” Clown says again, more insistently. He's not laying down; Clown has never been so presumptuous as to sleep next to Branzy in Rek's bed, not without invitation. Instead, he's kneeling, one leg on the mattress and the other reaching for the floor. His hand hovers a few inches from Branzy's head. Two months is not enough time to erase uncertainty in the nighttime.
“Sorry,” Branzy responds quietly. His voice is hoarse. “Was I shouting again?”

Then comes Branzy. His ideas of using redstone in brewing are revolutionary, but unfortunately, that sort of innovation attracts attention. Clown, the deadliest assassin in the city-state of Vivol, rather likes having a brand new engineer to call his own.

Summary
If there's a universe where Owen can kill three demons without remorse, then surely, there must be a universe where he remembers the child he used to be and chooses mercy. This series started off with just a reunion fix-it fic and has quickly spiraled into an 'everyone lives' au, where much of it takes place post-Maze. These guys got some trauma to heal, and it's about time they start working on it, huh?

There, he meets Pearl, who introduces him to the rest of the Listeners—a group of mortals trying to fight off the Watchers. She, Martyn, Gem, and Scott all try to help Grian adjust to the dystopian world he finds himself in, but he has a much darker past than any of them realize.

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Owen barks out a laugh. “Your survival instincts are terrible, doctor.”
“I have been trying to set this feeling aside,” Legs confesses. “It’s unhelpful, but persistent. I didn’t realize you’d be able to pick up on it.”
Owen can’t help himself. He stands directly over Legs, undoing the top two buttons of his shirt and pulling the collar aside. Usually he affords the doctor the courtesy of doing so himself, but this time he wants to test a theory. Sure enough, Legs’ pulse spikes. “If I fed from you right now, would you enjoy it?”
He says, voice just slightly strained, “I think you know the answer.”
