Armand turns to look at him. He’s got that cute little frown line between his eyebrows, the one he gets when he’s so distracted trying to figure something out that he forgets to care about how his face looks.
“You are not taking this the way I anticipated.”

Summary
Five vampires dealing with the aftermath of Lestat's capture by their coven, and a human, about to become one of them.
Missing scene fic for The Vampire Lestat (book), where Armand kills all members of his coven with the exception of four vampires, who managed to escape to seek help from Lestat. Somewhere else in Paris, Nicolas is about to become a vampire, but his mind barely registers the horrors around him.
A small recollection of scenes from the Vampires who survive the dissolution of the Parisian coven of the Children of Darkness, after Allesandra steps into her suicidal pyre.

Instead, he found himself in the weirdest place, with a bunch of French vampires and an Armand that didn't know him.

"Daniel had never thought of himself as needy, but whenever Armand left him with a tissue and a pat on the head he felt like shit. Sure, Daniel had ‘done well’ or whatever pithy bit of praise Armand thought to offer him that evening, but what did that matter when he’d wake up alone and spiral over it the next day? And Armand, either unknowing or just uncaring, would disappear and leave him to stew for a handful of days until he turned up again as if nothing had happened at all."
Daniel goes to jail. Takes Armand out for a night on the town. Struggles with feeling abandoned but, for better or worse, gets what he'd asked for in the end.

Before the Cleveland Street Scandal of 1889, Armand and Lestat visit a London rent boy. They disagree about what he needs, what they want from each other, and Armand's true nature. TL;DR: Armand is a top and Lestat gets him to admit it.
Everything follows the chronology of the first two seasons of the show. This means that in the timeline of the story, which starts in 1888, Armand and Lestat haven't met Louis. It imagines that Lestat didn't spend all of the nineteenth century underground. The fact that he did makes me sad, since I'm a historian of that period. If he'd been awake in the 1880s and bumped into Armand, I think he'd have been like this.

Daniel can tell right away that something is deeply, unsettlingly wrong. And that’s when he realizes that Armand hasn’t moved his legs once in Daniel’s sight, which has been trained on him nearly the entire time. How long had it taken Louis to recover from his spinal injury?
“He had a lot more going on,” Armand wheezes. “But, to answer your question without consulting your abysmal recordings? Months.”
“Uh, they’re not so easily consulted at the moment,” Daniel says, trying to maintain his balance. It’s going to be a fucking miracle if he can get himself back on his feet, let alone haul a temporarily paralyzed Armand along with him. “I’m gonna let the head thing slide for the time being.”
“The head thing?”
“You. In mine.”
“How generous.”
“The way I see it,” Daniel says, “I’m your only ticket out of here if you’re in as bad a shape as I think you are. Tell me I’m wrong.”
