Summary

Summary
A sinner, redeemed. An archangel, slain. Heaven and Hell stand on the cusp of a new era - one defined by peace, atonement, and reconciliation.
There is no place for a jaded and vengeful exorcist in this new era.
Lute smells war on the horizon, and if one won't come to her, she will rain down divine wrath upon Hell - orders be damned. Heaven's patience with its wayward daughter only stretches so far. Machinations years in the making subsume Lute; leaving her broken, alone, and far from Heaven's light.
The thing is: Lute isn't wholly wrong. War is brewing in Hell, even while Charlie desperately clings to a fragile peace. Her actions haunt her; violence seems to seek her out and the Crown of Hell waits for her, neither patient nor gentle.
With Charlie juggling the disparate needs of her subjects, Vaggie steps up at the hotel; craving atonement for the sins of her exorcist past. Threats from within and without are gathering, and she can't be everywhere at once. A soldier, who is forced by necessity to be a therapist, bodyguard, and manager; she listens as news from the lower rings grows more dire by the day.
Perhaps there is still room for a monster in this new era.

“You got mugged?” James asked. “A muggle mugging? Merlin, you had a wand, didn’t you? Should’ve used it.”
“Couldn’t. Obliviate is my weakest spell. Can’t bring myself to do it right, I think.”
Lily finally spoke up. “What’s your name?”
“Remus,” the stranger answered quietly. He had a soft, careful sort of voice. He didn’t turn to face Lily, but he did catch her eye in the rear-view mirror. His eyes were soft too, the color of chocolate.
James laughed. “Yeah. You’re a wizard, alright. Where to, Remus?”
“I’m not sure actually,” Remus said gently. He glanced back at Harry’s carrier, and though he couldn’t see the baby inside it, frowned. “I’m looking for someone, heard he lives in this neighborhood. His name’s Sirius Black.”

One too many close calls lead James and Lily to cut ties with the Order of the Phoenix during the First Wizarding War, taking their infant son with them. Several months later, the Potters come across a bloody, disheveled man lying on the side of the road. A man they've never met before.
