These feelings were new, equally terrifying and intoxicating. This must be what others felt when they encountered their favorite celebrity. Perhaps due to her own thoughts over the last year, Langdon had become a pseudo-celebrity in his own way. To her, at least.
What surprised her was that warm, stinging feeling that she had grown so used to avoiding. Years of overachieving in order to prove herself to everyone she met had allowed her to outrun it. Mel was envious. And maybe a little obsessed. She couldn’t understand exactly why, the whiplash of the last ten minutes still taking a toll on her psyche.
She already had a thousand new feelings to unpack tonight when she got home, what difference does two more make?

So when Steve had volunteered a ride back on the quinjet, alone Avengers-wise with Steve, Bucky jumped at the chance to avoid whatever activities they had planned for the return trip.
Except when they arrived back at the Tower, Steve instructed them both delivered to Steve's quarters, with Jarvis bypassing Bucky's floor...

The wonderful but awful thing about having Steve here is that it's perfect.
Right this minute, Bucky is lying in his bed and curled into Steve. Everything smells like sex, Bucky's favorite shampoo, and that citrusy soap he keeps in his shower just for Steve. His whole body still feels incredible — unwound and remade — and there are places Steve's touch feels burned to his skin. They're pressed close together, and Steve's smiling one of those smiles that always seem like they're just for Bucky.
Bucky would be unbelievably happy about it all if it hadn't been sixty-four days since the last time Steve was here.
(Or: Bucky enthusiastically welcomes Steve back after a long absence, and they have a very overdue conversation about their relationship — and their feelings.)
