“I could beat you up right now,” Jamie says, and Trevor laughs, delighted by the prospect.
“Oh yeah, wanna go?” he says, holding his thumbs and index fingers together in the classic square over his head, just like he used to do in middle school. “Square up, you won’t, come on, fight me, you wanna-”
Jamie backhands him across the face, and Trevor recoils in shock. Everyone’s always known that the offer of fighting is a joke, and Jamie taking him up on it stuns him into silence, his brain completely reset.
