Summary
There is a certain truth buried deep within the trenches of Eren’s bruised and battered soul, woven into him on a cellular level, intertwined and interlaced. One so terrifying, so utterly disgusting, he’s never inspected it too closely, but one he’s been aware of vaguely, detachedly, ever since he was nine with his small hands wrapped around a dull knife, covered in the blood of others and shaking uncontrollably. Not from fear, though, or terror at having gutted two human beings like pigs.
Perhaps he is wired incorrectly, the synapses in his brain skewed and queer. Perhaps he was born like that, coming out of the womb erroneous and bad, despite his mother’s words of No one gets born wrong, Eren.
Morbidly, he’s relieved that she died before she could realize what a monster he really is.
Because that’s what he is, isn’t he – a monster. A feral beast; impetuous, irascible, insatiable.
