“Okay,” the older Obito intones, dragging out the vowels. He steps back, flicking his thumb into the blade of a now-unsheathed kunai strapped to his belt and dropping down to a knee in an instant.
"Pakkun?" Kakashi asks, voice vaguely strangled. It may be the most emotion that Minato has ever been able to wrench out of him.
Kakashi and Obito are going through a rough patch in their relationship right now.
Unfortunately for them, life (namely, a time-traveling, mini Team Minato being plopped into a future where two-fourths of them are dead) could not give less of a damn.

Summary
Ok, so this story started as a random crack fic idea I had about Akatsuki and Kakashi. It's a found-family comedy (with some angst) so canon events were rearranged to make the dynamics work well.
I've altered Naruto canon timelines and ages for the sake of plot consistency, emotional dynamics, and found-family vibes. The Akatsuki are still criminals and obviously dangerous, but this story focuses more on relationships, trauma recovery, humor, and basically an accidental adoption rather than canon accuracy.
Please do not expect strict canon accuracy. This started as a crack idea and then accidentally became more wholesome.

Kakashi was tired.
A couple times he still second guessed himself. Wondered if it would be better to fail the team and let whatever happens to them happen.
But every time he saw the photo of his old team, he remembered why he couldn’t.
He couldn’t let that happen to them. This system had already screwed them over. The people who were supposed to care for them had done the opposite.
Kakashi wasn’t going to be another adult who let these kids down.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen. And maybe I’ll only make things worse…” Kakashi murmured softly to the framed photo at his bedside. “…But I have to try.”
He had too. Or these pups were as good as dead.
OR: Kakashi realizes how bullshit it is that Team Seven was even a team in the first place, and does things differently. Screw Hiruzen for putting him in this position.

Summary
