"Oh, don't you worry about her," he said, as if he were letting Sherlock in on a secret. "It's you, you should be worrying about."
A high-pitched whining reached his ears and the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. A charged energy filled the room, likely coming from the machine just out of his line of sight. He was sure if he had just a moment, he would be able to remember what it looked like, what it's likely purpose was in a place like this, but there was no time.
At first, there was nothing. The sharp, electric zaps were far closer than they ever should be to his ears, his skin, but he still wasn't certain why yet. And why had always been a huge motivator for him.

In retrospect, they should have assumed something like this could happen. James will blame himself later on, insisting he should have known that there was a chance this could be a consequence of their involvement in ending Silas’ schemes.
(Sherlock will, of course, tell him it’s not his fault, even as he grimaces in pain while doing so.)
It comes in the form of a package from Sherlock’s mother.

He was naked. Covered in blood, no clue whom it belonged to. He still couldn't move. Why couldn't he move?
Shau'an wasn't here anymore. Where was she? She had been here a minuet ago... or possibly days ago. Any sense of time had since abandoned him.
He felt generally numb. But everything also hurt. The oil lamp, the noise of students coming and going to lectures (or possibly partys? It seemed rather dark, so it must still be night, or maybe even the next one), the sheets against his bear skin, the blood. Everything was so overwhelmingly there.
