Keigo buried his face in his hands and exhaled slowly. He had thought about this conversation for months, but couldn’t remember a single thing he had planned on saying. All those recited conversations were lost to the wind. “I’m glad you’re alive and… I’m sorry.”
Touya snorted and the bed creaked when he leaned back into where it was propped up. “For what?”
“Leaving. Returning to the Commission and being too afraid to make any difference.”

It's after the war. After AFO and the Paranormal Liberation Front are defeated. Touya survives his fight with his brother thanks to a little-known side effect of his quirk. He sits in the hospital awaiting his sentence.
Keigo is tired of fighting for everyone else's goals. Retirement sounds like a dream, but only if Touya is with him.

"Yeah," Katsuki says. "Thanks, Shouto."
Saying it doesn't feel like enough. He catches the light eyebags under Shouto's eyes, catches him the times he'd wake up randomly in the night and feel Shouto there beside him, holding his hand and being a cooler or heater as needed.
And Katsuki's better at showing his gratitude, thanks stored in cut peaches or a massage turned more. But right now, he's a potato disguised as a man lying in bed and there's nothing else he can do but convey sincerity in words.
Shouto squeezes his hand, dimples showing as he smiles. "Of course."
He gets it though. He always does.
OR: Katsuki gets sick.

“Shut up,” Katsuki says, voice gruff but soft, “I know what this stuff means to you, okay? You’re not overreacting if that’s what you’re thinking. You just need the fucking time which is fine. It’s not like this hasn’t happened to me or Deku or Eijirou before, so give yourself some fucking grace. And just. Let me help. Yeah?”
Shouto nods, his body greedily accepting the comforting touch before he can attempt to parse through his mixed emotions. Strategically standing to the side of the shower’s spray, Katsuki’s hands settle on his head. Shouto finds himself instantly leaning into the weight of them, an inadvertent sigh escaping him which Katsuki thankfully pretends not to notice.
Even when Katsuki is no longer his, he's still the one that Shouto wants and luckily, Katsuki always stays. Maybe they can make this work again.
