What happens if you love someone who is missing some crucial part of what makes us all human? If you ask Sam, what happens is they use you and use you until you can't recognize yourself, and then someone makes you snap out of it and dump the evil bitch right before you leave town for college.
Except saying some words and moving doesn't delete the memory of being someone's whole world. Of being so caught up in them that you can't live without them.
It just makes you try to close yourself off from everyone, even a person who is brilliant and beautiful and broken and utterly smitten with you after you save them.
