Summary
Jacaerys Al-Rûmi Targaryen, born of a marriage of convenience, stood as a singular enigma. King Viserys I Targaryen, with the noble intention of securing his daughter’s future claim, forged an alliance with a distant kingdom. Although their religious beliefs diverged and their customs seemed strange, that kingdom possessed a formidable army. Princess Rhaenyra, in turn, entered into a sacred bond with Sultan Murad Al-Rûmi.
Following in the footsteps of their progenitors, Jacaerys would be forced to marry his uncle, Prince Aemond Targaryen, in a desperate attempt to appease both families. Reactions to this decision were diverse and passionate. King Viserys seemed pleased with the future union between his second son and his first grandson. However, Princess Rhaenyra seethed with rage at being bound by this decision; she could not allow her firstborn to marry his half-brother, whom she considered mad. It was not fair to her wonderful boy.
