Summary
“Please, Jeongin. Just drive,” Hyunjin begs. Pleads. His jaw aches from how hard his teeth are clenched. From the corner of his eye he watches Jeongin’s hand start the ignition, shaking as he shifts the car into gear.
“Put your seatbelt on,” Jeongin murmurs. He clears his throat when it takes a second for Hyunjin to react. Then, louder, “I’ll go when you put on your seatbelt.”
Hyunjin scrambles to do as he’s told, fixing his gaze forward again as soon as humanly possible. His white linen jumpsuit feels heavy against his legs, the halter tied behind his neck pulling uncomfortably. The engine revs, and Jeongin peels out of the lot.
The first tears fall when they round the corner, leaving the church in the rear view.

Maybe it’s silly, as unremarkable as Jeongin feels— but he thinks he’d promise next years if it meant that his stranger would look at him and smile just one more time.
He thinks if he were on a bench in a very crowded place, picking up bits of conversations, and watching people go by, he’d have a hard time not staring if his stranger were there. Of course, he’d never have the gall to say hello. He’s unremarkable, in the grand scheme of things. But he likes to admire the remarkable.
Like beautiful men, and Jesus on the cross, and the way his heart picked up for a reason other than dread for the first time in ages.

Summary
It’s desperation that drives Felix to place himself at the mercy of someone he has no right to expect kindness from. Briefly, Jisung considers shoving Hyunjin aside and physically running away from this conversation. It might be less humiliating than whatever nonsense she’ll blather out next. Time has worked its magic on Hyunjin, and it's only made Jisung more of a blubbering mess around her.
“So you’re a lesbian,” Hyunjin repeats, expressionless.
Jisung can’t bear to look her in the eye. “Yep.”
