He hadn’t even realized there was something going on, but Jess had growled and pushed herself against him and he had reacted before he could think about what he was doing. Before he heard the familiar sound of a gun safety being clicked off.

It took a moment for Tony to wake up, but when he did, he was immediately wide awake. His first instinct was to look out for Morgan, but she wasn’t here. It was Bucky who was kneeling next to the bed, reaching out to softly touch Tony’s shoulder. Pepper was still sleeping next to him, which might explain why Bucky was being so quiet and careful.

“We do not say anything about the Hollander situation,” LeClaire tells them even though it sounds like he’s already resigned to what he knows is going to happen.
After all, Roz gets extremely mad whenever it’s brought up. Not that Cliff can blame him, he’s pretty sure that Roz liked Hollander before this (wouldn’t chirp him half as much if he didn’t). Finding out that he’s such a bastard must sting.
Not to mention that Roz does not mess around with people that disrespect girls. Or women. Or kids. Or dogs. Or the elderly (excluding Scott Hunter). Or really anyone, if it’s for petty stupid reasons.
“Of course,” Cliff agrees for both of them since Roz is still too busy texting someone.
It’s apparently not good enough for LeClaire because he asks, “Roz?”
“Just one second,” he answers without raising his eyes from his phone or stopping his typing. “Need to get my Jane to agree with something. She’s very stubborn.”
Or. My take on the 'their text leak and now everybody thinks that Shane is an abusive bastard' premise. Featuring Ilya giving a presser, Marly realizing in real time who 'Jane' is and the internet reacting to the craziness.

“Did J.J. try to set you up with that guy?” Hayden asked.
Shane nodded, then frowned. "Why didn't you, like, discourage him?"
"That dude sounded perfect for you.” Hayden immediately held his hands up as outrage flashed across Shane’s features. “What? I just think you can do better!”
Shane’s mouth dropped open.
“For fuck’s sake, Hayden.”
Hayden laughed as he crossed the room and dropped down onto the bench beside him, nudging Shane’s arm with his elbow.
“I’m kidding. Mostly. Besides-”
Shane closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“It’s not funny.”
“Hey,” Hayden said in a conciliatory tone, though there was no real apology in it. “Look. I fucking hate the guy, but if he’s what you want…”
The words chafed. It felt wrong, all wrong, like someone humoring a bad decision. Like of course Shane could do better, should want better. Like it was obvious.
Shane saw red.
