Summary
Rosy smoke clears on a brightly lit ballroom; the sound of clinking drinks and din of idle chatter perfusing it. People parade about in extravagant gowns and suits, their faces all obscured by ornate masks. Unnoticed by the others, a duo maneuver through the throng of dancers. A firm, gloved hand holds Sumire’s as they continue to push through the crowd. They slow as they approach the center of the room.

Professor Anaxa, clad in similar garb to the Reaver, seemed to smile. Phainon had only managed to cut off a portion of his mask - enough to show one of his eyes and half of his mouth, and the cracks snaking across his skin like he was broken porcelain. He looked proud, in a way, and almost apologetic.
“Good work,” he said, and his voice was terribly hoarse, as if he’d been breathing in nothing but fumes for years. “I should’ve known I’d be no match for you, Phainon. You were always rather clever in combat.”
Phainon sees another version of himself, married happily to a Professor Anaxa, helping him steal Coreflames - when Anaxa had rejected him years ago in this world.
