Summary
The first time Luo Wenzhou receives flowers at the office, it is greeted by the entire Yancheng Criminal Investigation Team with equal parts bemusement and amusement. While it isn’t unheard of for the team to receive bouquets from victims or their family members as thanks for their work on a case, red roses aren’t normally the flower of choice.
Lang Qiao is the first to reach the object of interest, as she always does with gossip and food. She roots around until she pulls out a little card and reads: “‘In my heart, a cluster of flowers grows facing the burning sun’. It’s signed Fei.”
The AU where Fei Du and Luo Wenzhou got along for the last 7 years.

Summary
Zhu Hong glares down at the workbook in front of her, trying to untangle the equation on the page through sheer force of will alone. It is raining today, so the light shining through the glass doors of her father's apothecary is grey and feeble. The glare of the fluorescent lights inside are giving her a headache — or maybe that's just the homework.
Why do humans have to learn these stupid things? Back in the Snake Tribe lands, they were taught useful things, like how to identify and grow medicinal plants, how to fight off vengeful ghosts, and of course, cultivation. What are math equations supposed to do for them, anyway? It's not like you can eat them or use them to reach a higher plane of existence.

Summary
Tonight, Zhao Yunlan is clear-headed enough to properly enjoy it. He had asked for the taxi driver to let him out a couple blocks away from home, and he revels in the swing of his legs and the wind through his hair as he walks.
It isn’t long until his mind, as it often does these days, wanders over to rest upon an image of the mysterious Professor Shen. The thought of Shen Wei is always a pleasant one, though the logical part of his brain likes to suggest that perhaps it shouldn’t be.

Now, with Shen Wei fired like an arrow straight into his heart and stuck there, he’s slowly trying to be better. Because Shen Wei is tidy as a rabbit that carefully grooms its face and whiskers, and proud as a bower bird that constructs and keeps a perfect home for its mate. Zhao Yunlan is only capable of buying a house – which he does – but making it a home... Well. It’s a work in progress. He’s had a lifetime to dig in happily to his slovenly ways. Excavating himself isn’t so easy.
Or: Five times Zhao Yunlan learned to enjoy the little pleasures of a home.

He is, however, unfamiliar with being the target of the much-beloved daughter of the University’s chancellor. When he tells his department head, the response he gets is: “Be ready to marry whoever she proposes.”
Casting around frantically, fearfully, for the best response that is absolutely not I will be happy to court your daughter, he settles on the truth not as it is, but the truth as he wishes it were.
“I’m sorry,” he tells the lovely woman in the twinset and pearls, over tea in the university’s upscale faculty club. “I already have a boyfriend.”
