Summary
The cottage at the end of the lane seemed to sit outside the boundaries of normal life. Grantaire had spent more long, lazy days and warm, comfortable nights under starry skies in the garden of that cottage than he’d spent settled in any other place in the last few years and every moment he’d lived within the charming, private world his friends had built there had changed him in ways he couldn’t begin to explain. It made sense, he supposed, that it felt like home; Joly, Bossuet and Musichetta were the closest thing to family he had in left in France.
Four years ago, Grantaire walked away from Les Amis for his own sanity. He stayed in touched with everyone but Enjolras, the only person he couldn't bear to speak to, but with the passage of time friendships have grown thinner and time apart has grown longer. He's travelled, worked, and tried to find his place in the world.
He's always got a home at Joly, Bossuet and Musichetta's cottage in the French countryside, and heading there this time might just set Grantaire on the road to recovery he's always needed to walk.

Grantaire sleeps through the battle at the barricade, but when he awakens he knows exactly where he wants to be standing. If he could have gone out like that, it would have been enough for him.
When Grantaire wakes again, he still feels Enjolras' fingers grasped tight around his own.

Summary
Enjolras has not only fake-married an alcoholic annoyance who doesn't take anything he says or does seriously, he somehow did it while Jehan was live-tweeting the civil ceremony. He's fighting for marriage equality, but the evidence overwhelmingly points to the fact that marriage as an institution is dead, and that he has personally helped administer its coup de grâce.

"Why are you calling me?" Éponine demands as soon as she answers Grantaire's call, her voice short and clipped. There's genuine concern lurking beneath the tone, though. "What happened? Your plane didn't explode, did it?"
"Unfortunately not." He's standing in the aisle, crushed between the over-cologned businessman in front of him and the man with shoulders like a linebacker behind as they all file forward, making glacial progress toward the front of the plane and freedom. "At this rate, I should be at baggage claim in twenty. Where's the nearest liquor store?"
She gives a laugh that's short and sharp and means she's more irritated than amused. "How the hell should I know? I'm your agent not your personal assistant, and I've never been to Boston before. Isn't that what your fancy smartphone's for?"
"My fancy smartphone is for being able to answer your emails while I'm in the air, or at line for Starbucks, or whizzing through the city in the back of a cab. Also for Candy Crush."

Summary
Perhaps somewhere in between all the cups of coffee, shots of tequila, sunny March days, terrible lumpy jumpers, love, cigarettes, drunken nights and the desire to change the world they'll all leave Paris with a degree in something. Or not. Grantaire's money is on no. But he's a pessimist who's hopelessly in love, so perhaps his opinion shouldn't count.
