Summary
An empty fridge that they didn’t own, neither the pots nor the plates belonged to them. Their only possessions in that corner were a packet-of-five-packets instant ramen and two mugs, the blank ones Ivan bought and Till painted over — black cats for Ivan, and grey cats for Till, both with yellow stars. And the opened bag of cherry lollipops that Ivan sucked on while sketching designs.
Till wrapped the two mugs in the dirty towel they used to stop water from leaking onto the floor whenever the broken faucet acted up during dishwashing, and packed them together with the bathroom items. Still not full.

Summary
The man cocooning himself around Ivan suddenly stiffened, his grip loosening as his arms slackened. Panic flickered through Ivan immediately. Of course. Hamsters didn’t speak. The magic turning an ugly rat into Cinderella’s coachman was always meant to break eventually. Ivan started to pull his hand away, but the man caught it first, pressing Ivan’s hand firmly back against his head and guiding it in a silent request to continue.
Wasn’t it twelve o’clock yet?
( Or; Till DIY-ed a piñata to celebrate, took some liberties in his creation, and of course things went as well as anyone would expect. )

Summary
Ivan does not hesitate. Hesitation would be noticed. It would be recorded, remembered, held. Instead, he swallows without chewing. Whatever is biting into his stomach twists there, forcing it into a knotty mess, pushing the swallowed pieces back up his throat. He quashes it anyway, pressing everything down, tamps the reaction flat, and keeps still until the watching eye finds nothing to seize.
( Or, time lingers only in the living: one, once younger, now alone in its quiet passage, while the other rests frozen, unchanging. The insects are absent, and yet the silence speaks. Death itself becomes a record. )

Summary
Ivan is alive, by some miracle. Alive, to hear the sounds of overlapping voices and wheels on slick floors. Chattering voices that only grow in volume, heat that only gets hotter with every other body crowding around him, reaching for his arms, his face, his neck—
When he pries his eyes open, Ivan recognizes no one.
Ivan is alive, alive, but at what cost?
Ivan lives, Till lives, and they’re a little messed up but it’s okay

« That’s okay. There are plenty of seasons ahead where he can try to look again. »
« The graphite scrawl reads: “If I can still draw, then you’re allowed to speak.” »
so tender and bittersweet, such a precious read where a second chance lingers in the silence ♡

Summary
“Your freak,” Luka begins, as Till’s face reddens at the realisation of his slip-up, “Is right there, in the sink you keep glaring daggers into,”
“Hah,” Till deadpans, “That’s funny. So funny. Wow, Ivan, you got me. You’re so funny. Quit modelling, pursue a stand-up career,” He fake laughs extra hard for emphasis.
The room stays silent. The child sneezes. It’s fucking adorable.
Ivan inexplicably turns into a five-year-old. Till deals with this better than he deals with his feelings for the child's fully grown counterpart.

wonderful read, so beautifully written. « “That doesn’t sound right,” Mizi says, “More like, you make him like, be able to show you a version of him that’s less repressed?” »

Summary
Till’s life is a finely tuned disaster: he works a dead-end barista job, argues with the espresso machine, and tries not to think about the music career he had to kill to stay alive.
A rainy night, a leaking steam wand, and a playlist that feels a little too personal. Till thought he had successfully buried his past under coffee grounds and closing-shift routines. Cue a lot of aggressive eye contact, a first kiss that tastes like copper and coffee, and an absolute metric ton of five-year-old baggage being unpacked at maximum volume.
Sua is currently reconsidering all her life choices, Mizi thinks this is a K-drama, and Till is fighting for his life against Ivan’s absolute lack of boundaries.

Summary
It’s not like they’re getting the bad end of the deal, Ivan argues. It’s really the opposite. All these people he matched together had never been so sickeningly happy, and they all had Ivan controlling the strings behind the scenes to thank for it. In fact, they should probably invite Ivan to their weddings as a form of gratitude or something (not that Ivan would like to go, but it’s still a nice gesture).
…Or Ivan plays cupid in the coffee shop he’s part-timing at because why not but Till (the cute and difficult regular) is very much ruining his perfect streak.

Summary
Ivan breathes a humorless laugh. "I don't know what it is you want from me."
Till furiously snaps back, "I want you to—" before cutting himself off. He takes a deep breath and relaxes his scrunched-up facial features before continuing, quieter. "I'm your best friend. I find you half passed out in some—fucked up garden that you've been coughing up for a year, and I'm freaking out because I don't know what's going on or—or if you'll be okay, and now that I know you're okay, the doctors are saying they can't let you go because you're too damn sick to be left alone!"
His lower lip quivers ever so slightly. Ivan, for his own sake, unfocuses his eyes until Till is only a shapeless blur of colors in the middle of a sea of hospital white.
"I'm your best friend," the blur repeats, breathlessly. "I want you to fucking say something to me."
Hanahaki disease is, quite famously, a condition born from love. Ivan is convinced that his case is the exception to this rule. And when each of his friends inevitably starts catching on to his quickly deteriorating health, everything goes spinning out of control.

peak hanahaki story, like omg it’s so ivan of him « Ivan has always been a stickler for accuracy, a pretentious smart-ass, as Till would call him; if he has been afflicted with a flower of purest love, he will simply change it himself, correct it himself. » the baka lovely boy that he is ᜊ꒦ິ^꒦ິᜊ
