Summary
A year has passed since the battle of New York, a year since Thor brought Loki to Asgard, and a year since he returned to join the team on Earth. In that year, Thor opened up to Tony and later Bruce about not feeling like something was right in regards to his brother and the trio worked together to find answers. As more information was gathered and it became clear that it wasn't exactly Loki that attacked New York of his own free will, they gained the help of Genevieve Fair (OC), the resident medic at Avengers Tower who offered to be available where she could. Solid in their discoveries, Thor returned to Asgard to free his brother where he assumed he was just serving a solitary sentence in a cell for the rest of his days. Returning three days later, Tony and the others were unprepared for the state Loki was in.

“Well, you know, performance issues,” Tony says. Loki’s eyes flick up to his, a spark of anger starting there that hints at gory revenge, and then his eyes go wide with something that doesn’t look like anger, and Tony has no time either to figure out what that means or brace himself before Loki lunges for him. Which is when things stop being garden-variety weird and take a hard left into straight-up bat-country surreal.
Or: the scene between Tony and Loki on Stark Tower takes a different turn. (Not a shippy one. Sorry, FrostIron people.)

"Took a long time, but we made it there in the end," Seth says thoughtfully. It kind of sums up a lot of things about them. Their lives, their careers. Their relationship. It seems like no matter what happens between them, somehow they always find their way back to each other. No matter how long it takes. Dean has to believe that that will always be true.
