The blond didn't react and simply continued with his work, but his voice wasn't meant to be heard by his ears. It was meant to seep into his thoughts and impress ideas in his head, so he continued, "Aren't you tired? Work can be so stressful when on a deadline. Any reasonable person would only work from 9 to 5 and enjoy life, but not you. No, you chose to be an Architect."
An admirable profession, really, but Alhaitham's own opinions could wait until after hunt hours.

"Jin Ling?" Comes Lan Sizhui's soft voice, still thick with sleep but clearing up more as he moves past the curtains to the common area of the room already wearing his forehead ribbon and is in the process of tying his hair in a ponytail.
Jin Ling looks him over for a bit, unsure of how to phrase his request. He couldn't handle the awkward silence, not even a little bit, so he hurriedly said, "I was thinking we could look at the robes my grandma gave me for my coming-of-age ceremony. Wanna see?"

A moment later, there was a short rustling before it went quiet.
Hua Cheng's demeanor was more upsetting than the rustling leaves. The sound could have come from anything, but Hua Cheng had a very blank expression on his face. The oppressive weight that Xie Lian had so briefly felt began to creep over the forest floor. It rose up like water, wading up their knees, torsos, and up to their heads.
Xie Lian stepped toward Hua Cheng, reaching out a hand to touch his arm. For some reason, he felt like he had to stop him from going after that feeling, or maybe it was an urge to keep him nearby.
When Xie Lian’s fingers touched the skin of Hua Cheng's wrist, he turned to look down at him. His eyes most certainly were red.

Xie Lian is a prince of a city whose people are being tormented by an unknown, unseen beast. Seeking new lands to run to, Xie Lian begins a small village in the woods, hoping to prepare to move his people away from the dreaded forest outside of their walls. There, he meets Hua Cheng, who seems just a little off from human.
