Summary
Severus Snape was used to professional indignity. As the youngest member of staff and Dumbledore’s de facto personal assistant, Severus had picked up the slack for his colleagues. He had substituted countless DADA lessons for countless incompetent teachers, co-managed the charity fund with the aptly-named Professor Charity Burbage against his will, dealt with the Hogwarts board of governors whenever the headmaster did not feel like dealing with Lucius Malfoy, and continued to keep tabs on dark wizards in case another war erupted in Britain.
Everything Severus did with the utmost grace (if not without complaint), because his summer holidays were quiet, undisturbed, and peaceful. As the deputy headmistress, Minerva was in charge of writing and dispatching letters to the newest cohort of students. Severus had never had anything to do with it, and he liked it that way.
Until Petunia of all people ruined it for him. Now, it’s up to Severus to collect the student he’s dreaded meeting for the past ten years…

Summary
Harry doesn’t think much about the Triwizard Tournament beyond being relieved that he won’t have anything to do with it at all. It seems like he might finally have a quiet, peaceful year.
So, of course, his name ends up coming out of the Goblet of Fire despite the fact that he would never in a million years enter this death tournament willingly.
The entire school turns their back on him once more, only this time, he truly feels alone. Is this how it’s always going to be? Year after year of being thrown into life-threatening danger at Hogwarts while surrounded by people who can’t decide whether they love or hate him only to be shunted off to the Dursleys –who certainly aren’t shy about how much they hate him– every summer?
It feels like the fighting never ends. Harry is so, so tired…
