“Why?” he asks in a suspicious tone that implies he thinks she’s gone suicidal.
Sakura thinks she’s gonna be homicidal real quick if he doesn’t give her back her kunai and let her do what she needs to do.
“Because I need it to cut my hair, idiot.” She makes a swipe for it. “What did you think I was gonna do?”
She raises the kunai to her hair once more and poises it under her ponytail, where the tie is holding it in place.
But just as Sakura was about to flick her wrist and get it over with, Sasuke decided to speak.

Because it is nothing short of a fact, Shang Qinghua loves Mobei Jun above anyone and anything, and in that lies the truth behind who he really is.
So he takes a deep breath and utters the rest of his confession, the final nail in the coffin of the best thing that has ever happened to him, “I created this world, my king.”

“I heard you volunteered to get out of a blind date your mom set up for you.”
“Doesn’t change the fact I’m doing this for free. What’s your point?”
“I’m Satoru, by the way,” he hastily introduces himself. “Can the next number you call be mine?”
“Sure,” Shoko finishes her smoke and stubs it on the ground before flicking it to a nearby bin. She stands up from her squat, dusting herself off, then turns to Satoru with a smirk. “If you win.”

Mobei Jun swallows hard, his throat muscles flexing with how wide his mouth is open. Shang Qinghua briefly withdraws his fingers, and Mobei Jun gasps at the reprieve as his eyes follow the trail of spit connecting his lips to Shang Qinghua’s fingers.
“They are deceptively sharp,” he says in defense, roughly wiping the drool at the corner of his lips on his sleeves and running his tongue over the sharp incisors, a smug smirk pulling at his lips as he didn’t miss the way Shang Qinghua’s eyes followed the movement of his tongue. “And they are sharp enough to tear flesh.”

It is subtle because that is how Shang Qinghua has always been: subtle and underhanded. However, Mobei Jun has known him for a long time and has been familiar with him in every conceivable way, and he knows his words struck a chord in Shang Qinghua. After all, the North has been a home to him for a better part of his life, more than his human sect ever did.
“This Mobei Jun renounces Shang Qinghua as he has renounced this king.” The rigid stance of Shang Qinghua’s spine gives Mobei Jun cruel satisfaction. “And let this be the last time our paths ever cross.”

“Hah?” Shang Qinghua exclaims, abruptly stopping from fanning himself to look at her, confused and a whole lot annoyed by the sweat trickling from his nape down his back.
“And we’re also in the middle of a blizzard.”
“...ah?”
“If this one would assess the situation, it seems like Shifu has been spending more time in a climate much different than Cang Qiong, and so it is only fair that he is no longer accustomed to it.”
Shang Qinghua is so confused. “What does that have to do with—ah.” Understanding finally dawns, and Shang Qinghua closes his eyes as he throws his head back against the backrest of his chair. “Ah, shit.”

Shang Qinghua scratches his head, confused. “I’m not really sure why it has blue specks on it, my king. Perhaps because it is grown here?” Maybe the cold climate of the North is the reason for it? Or because of the soil? “But…it’s pretty, right?”
Here’s the thing, Shang Qinghua not only managed to grow sunflowers—he cultivated a different species of it, which is highly likely only native to the North due to his methods and the conditions under which he nurtured it. The flower is a sunflower, but it’s tinted blue because the soil in the North has a high content of decomposing plant material that produces anthocyanidin and makes blue pigmentation in plants possible.
It takes Mobei Jun time to answer, mesmerized as he is by the little miracle Shang Qinghua managed to produce, but when he does look up, Shang Qinghua’s heart almost seizes at the spot when he sees that Mobei Jun is smiling.
‘Ah,’ Mobei Jun thinks, ‘Qinghua really does bring life wherever he goes.’
