It’s not weird, he tells himself, and it’s what he would probably tell Will if he ever woke up the next day, managed to recollect the previous nights’ events and ask, “Hey, man, do you sniff me like a dog in heat after you get me drunk?”
He hasn’t ever asked, so far, and Mike has to assume that he has no idea. The alternative is unthinkable, so acutely humiliating that to even entertain the thought of Will remembering, knowing, is impossible.

“Right,” she repeats, slowly, “So, I’m saying— don’t ruin this for Will. Don’t.”
“I’m not ruining anything,” Mike says, frowning. “I haven’t even met him, yet.”
“I’m just saying, Mike!” She sounds unusually frustrated, he thinks. “Will thinks… so highly of you. And your opinion, what you think of his husband-to-be… it matters, okay? I just want you to— keep your mouth shut and try to be happy for him. Perform your best-man duties, all that. Got it?”
“Got it,” he parrots, jaw clenching.
